It makes me realize how knowledgeable most Pats fans have become on Deflategate compared to most others in the media, public, etc..
Katie had a few opportunities to totally embarrass him on his completely false comments, but she didn't have enough information in her arsenal to pull it off and got emotional instead.. which made her argument look weak
I agree with you about Nolan. Somehow, the Patriots-friendly media (Nolan, Simmons, Portnoy, etc) can never put together a solid argument when dealing with deflategate/spygate truthers. I do think there are a few things that contributed to that: 1. It was, I think, live TV, and she wasn't prepared for a debate on the topic 2. She was aware that she had to keep the show moving on to the next topic and not derail it. 3. I think there would have been fallout if she embarrassed Carter, even if it was done as tactfully as possible.
The first two reasons are pretty lame, but I think the 3rd one may play a larger role than we think. My opinion of Carter is not high, but he is a hall of famer and is there to lend credibility to football discussions. If Nolan was on her game, she could have shown that he was uninformed, ignorant and biased. If that happened, though, Carter is not going to take that quietly and the show runners are not going to be happy that one of their "experts" is now damaged goods.
