Adam Schefter: Patriots want minimum of 1st and 4th round picks for QB Jimmy Garoppolo

I'm not to worried about when we get a first in THIS YEARS draft. There is so much firepower throughout the draft, theres really on a few players that scream top talent, the rest could all be changed. Give me 1st for the 2018 draft, and multiple round picks for this year, 2nds,3rds etc. anything from 40-120 the talent isnt the biggest drop off!

It would be a gamble on JGs part that Brady hits the wall sooner rather than later. I think the kid is the real deal and I'd like to see it happen.

I hope he stays if we don't get a king's ransom for him and Tom starts to fade. I don't want the Brady era to end but am anxious to see how this unfolds.

As a side note, I've been wanting Giselle to introduce Jimmy to a supermodel that grosses more than does he so he can continue Tom's team friendly contracts here, too.

Gisele has several sisters too doesn't she?

my inclination is to keep jimmy g for next year and then decide

but i surely wouldnt give him up for anything less than a top 15 pick.....he was a 2nd rounder himself

have to consider that this qb class is weak

Deshaun Watson made a move up the board but yeah, everyone else is a bigger risk. There is still talent but it's not a sure thing and Jimmy G is a safer bet.

Watson is a big a risk as everyone else.

All 2nd + rd projects.

I'd want my gm fired if he picked any in the 1st.

Furthermore none will succeed w/out a great all around team behind them.

Agree with almost all of this but again, keep needing to repeat myself: Jimmy G's draft position is irrelevant when discussing his compensation.

We're not taking a 6th-rounder for Brady. Nobody's offering a 1st for E.J. Manuel or Brandon Weedon or Blaine Gabbert.

If Jimmy is worth a top 15 pick, it's because of his quick release, his mobility, his due diligence and hard work in learning to play under center, and his calm under pressure. It will have nothing to do with where he was drafted a few years ago.

His draft position is relevant to his perceived value at the time of the draft and what had happened since will change that perception.
To ignore where he was drafted is to ignore the grade teams put in him before he sat in NE for 3 years aside from playing a game and a half.
Every team evaluated him pre draft and adjust their evaluation as time goes by. They didn't not know who he was prior to him playing a game and a half.

Throw in Arizona who has a good team and Palmer is retiring

Mark Dominik is going to regret this interview if he does go to SF.

He has basically admitted that SF's #2 overall and more would be in play to try and get Garoppolo.
Best part is that SF had a TON of cap space. Understanding it's a moving object, spotrac has their 2017 cap space second in the league right now at $82M. JG will need a bigger contract sooner than a draft pick (even a very high one) so that could be a negative for some teams.

FWIW, I think JG could be REALLY good in that Shanahan offense. His mobility would be dynamic.

I wonder if SF would give up pick #2 in exchange for Garoppolo, instead of risking it on Trubisky.

Mark Dominik even says that he thinks it would take more than the first pick to get him. He states that he could understand why Belichick wouldn't want to trade him for that.

Dominik really seems to think of Garappolo as a franchise quarterback.

A great interview and bodes very well for San Francisco's interest in Garappolo.

If I'm a team who needs a QB i offer whatever it takes to get Jimmy, even my whole draft

I think we've uncovered SalemPats real-life photo:

Here's a thought:

BB will be trading with a guy that he knows like Grop and and has set the bar high for price.

I smell 3 1st rounders from San Fran coming soon

Id be happy if it worked out to be a high first this year and a fourt next year just to humiliate the 31 owners who collectively screwed us.
