Game announcers keep saying the Texans have the best defense

What moron goes by yards per game. Points is the barometer

It's gonna be real awkward for you when you browse around this forum a bit more.

Total defense is how they do it. This isn't new. What's the big deal?
Patriots are being slighted for everything apparently including game announcers trolling the pats when they are on a bye

A friend of mine here is a Texans fan and he's been saying all week that the Texans were playing for the right to be executed on live TV in Foxboro.

Defensive stats are nice, but they play the games on the field. We did ok against their D at home with Brissett. I imagine TFB will manage.

yards is the stat that's traditionally been used to rank defenses unless otherwise specified. Whether or not anyone agrees with it, that's how it's gone. And credit to Crennel and Vrabel, they are coaching a really good defense over there. They deserve the accolades.

Houston does have a really good D. Good line, good lb's, good secondary, tackles well.
It's not like they get alot of help from the O either.

They have done it without JJ Watt also!

If he comes back close to his best next year they probably will have the best defense!

texans playing with so much confidence/swagger

tom brady will change that next week.

The Texans are going to get Blown out in Foxborough.

Except for BFTW, i dont see anyone (here posting) giving (IMO) sufficient respect to texassn' D. Particularly in light of the recent thread/articles about similarities 2016 to 2010. YES, Pats SHOULD Blow them away, but any given Sunday, or Saturday as case may be.

I just throw some names out there: BOB, Crennel, Vrabel, Wilfork, and then Clowney. Does Nobody here think that all these guys who played with, coached with, and practiced against TB for probably a total of 20+ years Cant think of one or two ways to use a talent like Clowney to make trouble for the offense ??? If they steal a few points and pats come out flat (which i dont expect-but didnt expect in 2010 either), it could be an either way game. God forbid they get an unlucky hit on TB, what then could happen?.?

I'm pretty sure BB isnt taking them so lightly. Hopefully Josh isnt thinking too much about his (possible) next job.

Again, confident pats will win, but also think 1Q/2Q? may look a little low scoring, til they figure out Crennel 's wrinkles he throws at them.

A caller on the Dan Patrick show said he'd take the team with the best defense. Patrick replied that it would then be Houston. Hmmmm, I'll go with the team which gives up less points.

I was flipping channels during game breaks and came upon an infomercial for a handheld air compressor. The narrator pointed out the many uses and helpfully noted that "underinflated footballs can get you in a lot of trouble." Gaaa! Trolling. Trolling eveywhere!

If you're talking about Gruden, what player or team isn't the "best" or "great?"
Maybe we can get Gruden to be a beat writer for the Pats. Be better than 90% of the local media (just on being positive alone).

The teams with the "best" defenses won yesterday. I think the same result will occur today.

Agreed on not taking them lightly (no concern there really).

Re. ex-Pats on HOU side: I believe its the other way around: they don't have half on BB that BB has on them. Big advantage Patriots exactly because BB knows so many there so well (and they know him only partly). Also they didn't change so much as BB's team has (even in the last months since their last meeting)

So apart from any given Sunday . in normal circumstances this should be a walkthrough.

I can see yards being just as important as a stat. If you QB three 3 pick 6s during the year, the D, did not give up the points.

On the other side of the coin, Teams like the pats believe if it takes you 12 plays to score, you won't. You will have a bad series, dropped pass, 10 yard penalty or the such. They are willing to give up some small chunks waiting for you to screw up.

Exactly. I don't know why people are getting their panties in a bunch.
Right? Quite honestly they have a damn good defense. Clowney is finally playing like the guy they drafted #1. Imagine how they'll look on D with Watt back next year...

That's why I would rather them not find a good QB. If they find a QB, they immediately become our biggest in the conference. That's how talented their roster is.
