The oldest NFL coach in history was George Halas who retired at 70. Tom Caughlin is 70 and possibly angling for the Jaguars job, so he could theoretically coach until he's 75 if he's hired and can turn it around.

Belichick needs 91 wins to tie Don Shula for first all time. He needs 81 to tie Halas for 1st all time. I'm sure that Belichick knows these numbers. If he sticks around into his early 70's and the Patriots continue to average 12 wins a season as they have since 2001, then he can break Shula's mark in 8 years (age 73). Average even 10 wins a year and he can break the record in 9 years (age 74). If he remains in good health, I see Belichick sticking around to break these records.

I agree that I would not want to see McD and Jimmy G go within the division and would prefer they got to the NFC in general. But I will still root for the Pats, no matter how bad they become. I would much rather enjoy Brady's last couple years with legitimate chances at Super Bowl titles. I really think Brady has two more titles in him (one this year and one either in 2017 or 2018).
I think a Jimmy G and McD combo would be more like the Pete Carroll years. Good teams that compete for the division and maybe win a playoff game, but Jimmy G and McD are not winning a SB in the next three years (only my opinion).

1. You don't trade your starting QB when he just went 11-1 with 28 TDs and 2 pics. I don't care what the rational.

2. For most teams in the market for a QB, JG would be a better match. It wouldn't make much sense for SF to trade 3 1sts for Brady because of age, cost and where their team is at but it would for say a 1st and a 2nd/3rd for JG because of cost, age and upside.

Not to mention that the QB mentioned in point #1 is still better than his potential replacement with no signings of slowing down yet.

I played along with the thread for a couple games. Its actually quite laughable some of the stuff you see. Some of its absolutely ridiculous. "Incomplete Pass" "Bradys done, Bench him" for example.

We've been blessed with the amount of wins we see each year, but continuing this run at 10 wins a year for another 9 seasons is no given. It's actually somewhat far fetched to think this will automatically continue once TB12 retires. I don't think we sink to JETS level ineptitude, but TB12 is a huge part of us getting above 10 wins every year. Over 9 years that's a lot of turn over in players and would be very tough to continue this run without the best QB ever under center.

I think it's possible we see Belichick coach another 4 years or so, and then move strictly into the GM position for a few years before he completely retires in his early 70's. Could be a good chance we see Bill and Tom ride out together and go join the circus like Rock and Mick.

Back in 1988, the NHL Board of Governors gave the LA Kings major (under the table) revenue sharing considerations so they can pay/afford Wayne Gretzky to play in a major US market.

In LA and SF, you have two franchises in top 5 markets that completely suck and with new stadiums.

It would not surprise me at all if Bend Over Bob cut a deal with Goody, Kroenke or York to send Brady to the West Coast for a boatload of whatever.

He said a few years back he wouldn't coach into his 70's like Marv Levy. Who knows, maybe he's reconsidered. I think a lot of it will have to do with how well the team is positioned. If he's 69 or 70 and see's a rebuilding period he may not want to take that on. If we are still contenders maybe he stays. Interesting times ahead.

That was an offhand comment said many years ago. 2009 or 2010. Best to not take comments like that too literally. Is he healthy and enjoying it when he gets to that age ? That will be the determining factor.
