...but where McDaniels ends up may jepordize their chances

On a related note.....

It's hard to look at Bortles regression and see a winner. There's not a ton of QBs in the league's history who have regressed and then recovered. But the league is full of guys like RG3, Vince Young, Osweiler, et al who have had a decent to good year, started to suck and never recovered.

i just cant see the Jags cutting bait on him

It doesn't detract from your point, but Osweiler has never had a good season. He literally got $72M for being tall, playing behind Peyton, and being a 2nd round pick.

I don't think they will either. I meant that more from a prospective coach's standpoint. You go in there knowing Bortles is the org's guy whether you like him or not so unless you see something that a pleb like me can't see I think it makes the situation less appealing.

Did i miss a season where Osweiler had a "good" year?

The Jags will give Bortles at least 1 more year and should.

As far as McDaniels. Any team that gets him and Jimmg G for a high first can't be upset.

Tom Brady had a 50-touchdown season in 2007, and followed it up with a complete dud of a year in 2008 (1 win, 0 TD, 83.9 passer rating). He rebounded just fine.

...joking.

"Defend Brock Osweiler" is not on my To-Do list today. He was good enough to QB his team to a victory over us and get a starting job somewhere but has certainly regressed would be the whole reason why I listed him in an offhand list of QBs whose development went backwards.

When I first learned about sunk cost theory, I thought it was damn near pointless because at any level of professional evaluation it should just be common sense.

Decisions like this constantly prove that initial thought wrong. Bortles is a sunk cost, and he sucks

LOL, It's gonna take me than a high first for a team to aquire Garoppolo from us

Depends how high. By high i mean top 7 or higher.

1 first round pick can be worth more than 3 or even 4 other first round picks and if we get one that is really high i would look to trade down to multiple first round picks.

My bad... when you said high 1st... it sounded as though you were looking for a pick in the twenties or high teens

It kind of bums me out to think about losing Jimmy G & Josh all in one fell swoop. In addition, if I am BB I think long & hard about it, particularly if they are going to an AFC team, whether to make a trade with Josh's new team for Jimmy G. Why should he set up a rival for years to come with what might be a better coach/QB combination than the Pats are left with? If I am BB, I make sure Josh DOESN'T take Jimmy G. with him.

I don't think chalking it all up as sunk cost works in this scenario. There's a lot of other factors.

There's only a sunk cost from the owner's standpoint. The GM and scouts? If they declare Bortles a bust they're done. The only shot they have is that he turns it around.

And from the owner's standpoint I think there's more than just sunk cost - there's also the PR aspect and doubtlessly a little pride at stake here too. Sometimes it's really hard for people to admit they're wrong.

A friend who will remain nameless *cough*Zip*cough* suggested that there's always the potential of Josh going to SF and bringing a Patriots' QB other than Jimmy with him. If Brady was going to go anywhere...

I'm no longer friends with this person. I don't want that kind of negativity in my life.

He can thank SI for putting him on the cover too

I don't want to speculate too far out into the future, but I am fairly confident that BB/TB12 will be better than JMcD/JG at lead for the next couple of years.
My conclusion is based on both BB and TB12 being in the conversation of GOAT at tbeir respective positions.
I am not ready to put Josh and Jimmy there yet.

I want multiple picks for jimmy. They might have to draft a QB in the upcoming draft.

I've seen that suggested elsewhere too.
