Beating 3-13 teams is a big deal for Pagano.
What owners Terry and Kim Pegula did not do was fill Whaley in on the reasons why they felt they needed to make a change. During a Monday press conference, Whaley said that he was not “privy to the details” of the conversation between Ryan and ownership and that his input was never solicited before the decision was made to send Ryan packing.
“I was told by my boss that I will no longer be working with Rex,” Whaley said.
The 49ers have fired G.M. Trent Baalke and coach Chip Kelly, a year after firing coach Jim Tomsula, and two years after “mutually parting ways” with coach Jim Harbaugh. But with all those dismissals and the team getting progressively worse, is there someone higher up in the organization who should be fired?
Not according to owner Jed York, who said at his press conference today that he remains in charge.
Asked why he shouldn’t be dismissed alongside Baalke and Kelly, York answered, “I own this football team. You don’t dismiss owners. I’m sorry that that’s the fact and that’s the case, but that’s the fact.”
Rare honesty in all cases.Today's press conferences have been gold. Between Pagano, York and Whaley...
Doug Whaley: I don’t know why Rex Ryan was fired
Jed York: I own the 49ers, and you don’t dismiss owners
Thank godIt's from Week 3 last season against the Titans.
Rare honesty in all cases.
holy **** they are excited to be 8-8. good god.
I disagree. Luck is done and will never recover. In some ways he reminds me of Bledsoe who was much better when he was young and didn't know anything and didn't try and think and just threw it. I would not touch Luck or his salary.Honest to god, I know every team and coach can't be the Patriots and Belichick, but how can anyone listen to something like that and not just laugh your ass off? What a f####### clown show. I hope Irsay owns that team forever, Pagano coaches it forever and Grigson is the GM forever. Oh, and Andrew Luck is about a millimeter from being permanently damaged goods. Couldn't happen to a nicer outfit. Absolute joke.
