Pats need to win the last 2 and go 14 and 2.

Can anyone confirm this?

I'd be very disappointed if we have to win vs. Miami. They will be playing hard for a playoff spot.

But then again....you play to win the game
I'd prefer they be able to sit key guys and let them rest too but, if they go to Miami needing the win to get the one seed, what could be better preparation for the playoffs than playing a playoff team, desperate for a win, on the road? I can't think of one.

If Colts and Broncos beat Raiders and Chiefs respectively next week, plus a win by us, than we can rest starters in Miami. Unlikely though.
Yuck! I must root for the Dolts next week

Someone mentioned week 17 game vs Fins getting flexed to SNF. We would love that - we would know what Raiders had done and whether game was meaningful.

Hate that KC lost today--can't believe some were rooting for that

Colts are peaking at the WRONG time....the dolts have way too many losses, and are effed lol. But I am rooting for them at OAK. If they don't win at OAK, it's gonna be a rollercoaster New Years Day in South Beach. Matt Moore is a decent backup. Hopefully Pats don't fall asleep again this time around.

I know that everyone wants the one seed including me, but it is pretty awesome that they clinched the 2 seed this week. The 2 seed wins the Super Bowl as much as the 1 seed statistically.

EDIT: And it can't be at Denver this time.

Why does that matter? We would need to win out just as much if they had won as well.

It would have mattered a lot. Because if KC would have won out, the Patriots could have afforded a loss to either the Jets or Phins.

He's right.... Patriots would have owned the tie-breaker with Kansas. Cant win a tie vs. Oakland

are you sure? I did an espn playoff machine where kc, oakland, and pats were all 13-3, and we got 2 seed.

we don't need the broncos to win next week

if the raiders win out and we lose a game, the only thing that could've saved us was KC also winning out. now we need an oak loss or us win the last 2

I just remember why this does not matter that KC lost. Same problem with the late Oakland game week 17. KC plays late last week of season week 17. If we are 13-2 and Miami, and the Chiefs were 12-3, and the Raiders were 12-3. We STILL would need to beat Miami to assure HFA. Because those two play later. And let;s say we lost to Miami, and the Chiefs lost to (I think the Chargers), but the Raiders won against Denver.. Oakland gets the HFA. So the KC loss today has no impact at all on us needing to win BOTH our games. We still would have needed to in order to win BOTH to not be depending on stuff late week 17... so that would mean we had to win bother regardless.

Too bad Oakland won today. Well, the good news is we control our own destiny for HFA. Unless the Colts can beat Oakland next week though, we will need to win both Jets and Dolphins to assure HFA. (Since Oakland at Denver in final week is a later game, and Denver will not beat them anyway) So the Pats still need to win last 2 games.
People disagreeing with my OP are wrong, or just have strange opinions.
