Jags want McDaniels

They don't have to give picks for McDaniel. 2 high firsts for Jimmy g is nuts. Rams do not have a 2017 1st.
Otherwise...

It's not just for JG. It's a package deal whereby they also get McDaniels. Yes I know they don't have to give picks for McDaniels, but the idea is that that's who McDaniels would want, and perhaps as a condition of him coming there, he'd want JG, and that would be the price. To be offset somewhat by trading Goff for picks. But like 99% of the trade/personnel speculation in this forum, this almost certainly won't happen.

And I didn't realize the Rams don't have a 1st round pick in 2017. So...whatever.

If they could trade Goff for a 2nd rounder, and if they think that JG is better, sure they may make a move, especially if the move also brings in McDaniels (who, presumably, they'd want pretty badly as HC).
Who would trade a 2nd rounder for Goff though?

The situation is: They traded a buckload of picks for the #1 pick and he has shown No ability. So no one is really going to buy that case.

The rams, who are already holding the pinapple, might as well give him a chance to "Win the job" next year, since they are going to continue rebuilding anyway, bringing a veteran to compete. He is young, he could surprise everybody. (Plus trading MORE pick seems counter-intuitive).

McD going to the rams could happen, but i don't see Grop going, that's all. Maybe if he becomes a FA 2 years from now, they could go big on him

They just took goff #1 overall and you want them to trade him for a 2nd?
They are building their team around him.

Teams make mistakes on #1 draft picks all the time. Especially at the QB position. Just from 1999 on, consider these failed QBs (Smith isn't really "failed" but in no way has he lived up to his #1 pick status) who were taken #1:

Tim Couch
David Carr
Alex Smith
Jamarcus Russell

The point being that a team could draft a QB in that spot, and after a year realize that they have a chance to land a better guy, then trade that #1 picked QB away for pretty good value, and improve the team considerably in the process.

It all would hinge on the idea that the Pats would trade JG for the right price, and that another team (in this case, the Rams) love JG and think he's a significant upgrade. From what I've seen of the two QB (admittedly a small sample size, but then again, I don't do this for a living), JG is far superior.

Jimmy g is not worth 2 1s

It's almost like you're deliberately choosing to miss my point.

But that's ok. I won't belabor it. Because it's not gonna happen anyway. You may have the last word.

didn't McD already say he isn't interested, and his plan is to stay here as the HC in waiting?

might have just been coach-speak to quell the where is Josh going talk as jobs opened up, but I thought he came out and said this a few weeks back?

I think it's safe to say that McDaniels isn't going anywhere without a QB.
I think it's safe to say that this year's draft doesn't have a likely QB.
I think it's safe to say that Bortles is not a franchise QB, and will not become one in the near future.

Therefore, I think it's safe to say that McDaniels is not heading to Jacksonville (unless Jacksonville somehow secures his QB of choice first).

there's only one thing a good HC needs to succeed in the NFL...a good owner

the right owner will let you have power over what you are good at, and will help you grow and build a team your way, the jags owner strikes me as someone who could fill that role, but who knows

You don't give up on a #1 pick franchise QB after 5 games.

There should be a package deal. McDaniels and JG to, say, the Rams, for a 1st round pick in 2017, a 1st rounder in 2018, and a fourth rounder in 2018. Something like that. The Rams' D has some pieces. JG immediately gives them a quality QB (Goff isn't the answer, and they could trade Goff to, say, the Jets or Cleveland, to offset some of their lost picks), and the Rams can be off and running.

The Pats then draft another QB to compete with Brissett for the "QB of the future" title. They use the 1st round picks on defense. And away we go.

I don't think the rams have a 2017 first after the goff trade last April

First of all, I'm not convinced that McDaniels will make a good head coach. My fear is that the BB assistants go to other places and try to be BB (Mangini is one example) but they can't pull it off. And if he does get a HC job, I'm thinking there's a better opportunity out there than Jacksonville.

Of course they do. why would he decide on a sorry franchise like that?

If Josh traded for JAG (how fitting) that offense would actually be formidable from a "weapons" standpoint, though I believe their OL needs to be shored up. IIRC, the defense is average. Weak division. Wouldn't be the worst place to build, except that the fans don't seem to love the team that much.

According to the odds-makers, as of this moment (may change tomorrow) Josh is number one on the LA head coach list. They want offense there, so at the top of the list are offense guys.

As much as I want McDaniels to stay (and think he will), it would be pretty funny if he and Garoppolo went to Jacksonville and spent the next decade ****ting all over the Colts.

Is there anyone in foxboro that you don't think sucks?

i wouldnt blame josh for leaving if some team is dumb enough to hire his ass. lol

supposedly the rams are very interested. he'll last 2 years before he returns to NE as the qb coach!

Agreed, there is already a Patriots-South squad in the Texans who have beat the Colts twice this year, I'd love to see any assistant coaches we lose go to the Jags or Titans to ensure that the Colts remain a basement dwelling doormat for the next 10 years

The laughable thing is that the Colts board want either Patricia or McDaniels to replace Pagano... do they honestly think that after all the petty Deflategate BS that started because of the Colts that our assistants would go help that team be successful?

Patricia was wearing a "The North Remembers" tshirt in some photos, these guys have some integrity and honor about them.... I could never see either of them taking a HC position with the Dolts and working for their drug addict owner

This is part of the karma train that is running over hat organization right now for their despicable role in Deflategate after the shameful and embarassing curb stomping they took in that AFCCG (which there are still fans on their board that are 100% convinced deflated balls were the reason they lost.. and no I'm not joking)

Pathetic owner, pathetic organization and pathetic fanbase down there in Indy... 2nd most detested NFL demographic only to the Jets.. there isn't enough bad things that can happen to that team

I don't even like Luck anymore, from his joking jabs about deflategate at the pro bowl following the epic curb stomping they received in the AFCCG and the fact that the media are giving him the Msnning treatment now, always saying how incredible he is despit all their shortcomings... whenever they win, it's because Luck is a godlike creature, but whenever they lose its because the organization failed to put good players around him.. the media talks about him like he's a legendary QB when he hasn't won jack s*** in this league..

They had Luck last week as a potential NFL MVP lololol... he's missed multiple games this year and his team might not even win their division, and the media was gearing up to crown him MVP.. he'll probably get 2 or 3 mvps in his career just because of media hype like Manning did.. a few of Manning's MVP titles were complete jokes... the media would just default the award to him unless another player had such an incredible season that it was impossible to ignore them... I still remember his face when Adrian Peterson won it over him at the he ESPY's for his 2000+ yard season... Manning shook his head in disgust and just looked completely dissapointed and almost offended that he didn't win it... like a "how dare they give it to a RB over me!"

Man I hate the Colts

I doubt he goes there. Supposedly there is mutual interest between them and Coughlin for a return.
