Cut Jones now!

I don't want him cut because I think we should give him a shot on defense. But get him the hell off ST. Enough is enough. We are reaching the critical stages of the season and cannot afford these blunders any longer.

Just stop it. Do you want to cut Brady for the horrid pick or Slater for the fumble, or maybe Tuney for the hold. WTF. This has been a forgetable rookie year for Jones, no doubt. But lets see what happens the rest of the season and more to the point next year when he can start with a clean slate.

Are you for real? Get the F outta here with that calm, rational sh!t.

Seriously, no doubt some baaaaad plays that were maddening/crushed the momentum/allowed the Ravens a path back into the game. However, at least one moment(maybe more) of poor performance is very solvable from an execution standpoint. The almost laughable, deer in the headlights, stupefied STs PR blunder is easily fixed with intense dedication to improvement and the process of NFL seasoning,

So if he wants it badly enough to drive him to watch and rewatch the film on his errors, practice and repractice it, his performance in that situation almost certainly would be majorly improved (and better execution will likely permeate other aspects of his play too). OTOH if he doesn't want to put in the serious amount of hours required?? He probably should be planning for a non NFL career that may be coming sooner rather than later.

he has 4 fumbles in a total of 17 returns. he averages 4.7 yards per PR with 3 fumbles that's just bad coaching to keep putting him out there, let him play defense and ST coverage but keep him off the hands team
Pretty sure tonight makes it 5. I thought he was coming into the night with 4 fumbles in only 15 returns.

Well, then a preseason pick 6. Make him a starter.
Just saying he flashes skill hes in a slump maybe he gets out of it and maybe its a talent that goes unrealized.
Just hope he doesnt lose confidence.

Jones needs to go now. He a liability.

Yeah, they are not going to cut their top draft pick who is going through a nightmare stretch in the return game to start his young career. I'd like to think our coaching staff has the patience and pedigree to work with this talented young man, and with continued excellent teaching, help him out of this funk.

He's gotta be headed to IR now with a head-case "issue".

I think you are right its 5 with tonight
What a shame. Hopefully, he continues to grow in his role at CB.

It would be ironic if he ends up being an adequate CB but doesn't return any kicks, but I doubt that Belichick cares. In the meantime, maybe he fields punts during the offseason and improves in that area for next season.

I think Jones needs to be shelved for the year. At least for certain be shelved on KR's.

His rookie year has obviously been a massive disapointment. Let him get his mind right and keep him on the bench.

If he pulls more of the same next year, then cut bait.

Because it's so easy to be a rookie on an 11-2 team ...
Granted punt returns have to stop for now anyways but he's a decent work in progress on defense.

let's see tonight we had the:
cut Patrick Chung player out there ... 9tackles.
Cut Blount player out there ... grinding out 72 yards.
The useless McClellin out there making plays ...

Oh and did I forget the cut marcus Cannon player out there ...

Need I go on? Armchair negative nancy's having a ***********.

Just a reminder, Chris Harper was cut for one fumble.

Jones has five.

Ah yeah, I remember that press conference when Belichick was all "I want to announce we are cutting Chris Harper because of one fumble."

He was cut a day after his costly mistake contributed to our loss.

So, yes, he was cut because of the fumble.

Wow people are dumb, I can't imagine Jones left without permission.

I usually give rookies 3 strikes before I call em out but Cyrus Jones is on like...strike 8 right now

RETURNER
It's seems clear that Jones is incapable of being a returner. It's Belichick that he's continuing in that position, after looking terrible all year. We all thought that we'd picked up a returner this last week. If we didn't, we need to do so. If not, Edelman will be our punt returner, not a good idea, after losing Amendola when he was put in as returner.

DEFENSIVE BACK
Cyrus Jones is a rookie who hasn't played very well. That is NOT unusual with patriot rookie defensive corners. He was needed in this game as the 6th DB. Rowe is out injured, and I guess that either Coleman is injured or Jones is ahead of him. The other Jones was also out there. Chris Long was in coverage for most of the game! This was a very special situation. BALT throws the ball more than anyone but Cleveland. Until BALT showed that they could run, the patriots put 7 or 8 players in coverage on every down.

So, until Rowe is healthy, we need to choose among Jones, Jones and Coleman as the 6th defensive back. Harmon is the #5.

BOTTOM LINE
Cyrus Jones is a rookie who is really not good enough yet to be a regular contributor. He has been called into action because of the injury to Rowe. With a healthy Rowe, we have six solid defensive backs: McCourty, Chung, Harmon, Butler, Ryan and Rowe. The combination of these players provides lots of options for the defensive coaches.

So, I have no complaints with regard to Cyrus Jones as a corner, although I hoped for faster development.
What is clear is that he shouldn't be on the field on special teams.

He was cut a day after his costly mistake contributed to our loss.

So, yes, he was cut because of the fumble.
there is the factor that Harper was a borderline guy for the roster and at that point was only on it because of his return ability.
