Report: surgery for Gronk

Strangely enough, I had back surgery this morning, disc problem & pinched nerve required a 4/5 lumbar fusion. Done laproscopically, and I was home in 5 hours. I'm very sore tonight (when the percoset wears off!) but I am instructed to not lift more than 10 pounds for 3 whole months. I am already walking though.
Maybe a couple of seam routes? Get well man.

I don't know why some patriots fans are in denial about a performance drop with Gronk out.

Take a look at how Gronkowski's absence has affected Tom Brady since he joined the Patriots in 2010.

gronk has missed 19 games over his career. Tom Brady has started 17 of those games. And over a season's worth of games, here is his statline:

Comp%: 57.3
Yards/attempts: 6.5
Rating: 82.4

Compared to Brady's numbers when gronkowski plays

Comp%: 65.3
Yards/attempts: 7.9
Rating: 103.5

Come back or not for the season, I just wish Gronk a successful surgery and get well soon. The guy has done a lot for this fan base, we should show our support.

I've seen a lot of posters mentioning their own battles and surgeries with back injuries.

What is it that you guys did that caused these injuries, because it sounds like hell and I'd like to avoid it much as possible as I get older.

I just hope these wrs step up. It can't be just the edelman show. TB sometimes locks on him a lil too much. Other wrs need to get open. I think we will see now if this defense can win games for us by keeping the games close.

I'm now ready to be prepared to be disappointed in January unless Brady puts up 140 passer rating every playoff game that's what it will take with this defense

We have never won a Super Bowl without a healthy gronkowski Since 2010

If only we had a TE as talented as Jermaine Wiggins.

Early 40s, fairly healthy, 5'9" and 170 lbs. It may have happened from something like carrying the Xmas tree, lifting the dog into the back of the car, or simply twisting in an odd direction. I'm certainly not doing anything terribly strenuous. Sometimes, the people with the office jobs who are sitting for longer periods can have just as much if not more issues, as those who are doing heavy labor.

It could even be a faulty mattress. Sometimes, your body just naturally starts to wear down in different ways. I certainly noticed a big difference from my 30s entering my 40s.

Yes, power lifting/squats are a common theme, and I believe that's how Gronk hurt himself in college with the first surgery.

A whole lot more than just Bennett, too. Almost all of Gronk's missed games came in 2012 and 2013. These were some of the worst receivers corps we ever fielded even with Gronk.

IDK about 2012 being bad without Gronk. They weren't superb but they could manage.

Brady made it work because he's Brady, but Gronk/Welker/Lloyd were pretty much all we had at WR

The murderer too, right? Not being a smartass, just including him because you noted Gronkowski.

Llyod--Welker--Hernandez wasn't too bad, and obviously they benefited greatly from Ridley's 1300 yd season on the ground.

We also had Woodhead and Vereen, although I don't remember how much they contributed.

Yeah its critical he gets and stays healthy.
Yes, he's dealing with both shoulder and ankle issues at the moment. I'd like to see them manage those with a careful eye.

Hoping we'll get more of a look at Lengal. Wouldn't expect him to go out for a pass, but would atleast like him to get some time as a blocker if the score/pace of the game allows it. Might make the run predictable for the few plays he's out there, but would rather be predictable than have Bennett shouldering any more of the load than he needs to

Brady will, for the most part, make any set of WR work. 2013 might have been the most painful 12 win season I've watched. Seemed like someone went down every week and the Murderer getting arrested threw a wrench in the Pats plans.
