I'd have to go with Sheard. I'm not sure he's even currently worth the 5.5 million per year we're paying him right now. He sure won't be getting the big deal this offseason that we once thought.

B. Mingo, he looked like an obvious top 10 pick in his college highlights well he was since was took at 6 pick, when we got him from Cleveland, I thought steal and that was didn't well in Cleveland because its Cleveland but oh well

I'll blanket *****.

  • I was hoping for a little more of a pocket push from Malcom Brown. Overall hes been ok.
  • I was hoping for 2015 Logan Ryan....nope
  • I expected a little more from Cyrus Jones.
  • I expected more INTs from Malcolm...with that said hes been playing at a ProBowl level the last month and a 1/2
  • Sheard has been missing. Unacceptable
  • Expected a few more plays from DMC but hes been solid. The question is it $10m/yr worth.
  • Jamie Collins
  • Expected a little more from Mingo and Shea.
  • I thought Coleman was going to be a little better.

I didn't expect long to do anything here. Shea hasn't doned diddly squat. I hope flowers can keep making plays.

I picked "other" to be inclusive of many more than the players listed as well as coaches.

What else negative would you like to celebrate? Worst coach, perhaps? Crappiest concourse food? Lousiest parking lot?

Malcom Brown. I thought he would collapse the pocket a little more. Overall the d line has been very dissapointing.

I was shocked to not see Malcom Brown in the poll. Sometimes I think DT get overlooked because they are harder to evaluate than CBs or DEs. Brown has looked like the player he should be in about two games this year. He really needs to step it up and become a more consistent, complete player.

Our DTs in general are lack luster. We made a risky, bold move in letting Knighton go and going young with guys like Valentine and Hamilton and so far it hasn't paid off. Valentine is as raw and inconsistent as you would expect a player his age. Hamtilon actually looked pretty good but now he's hurt. Branch is great against the run but awful against the pass.

Sheard is playing fine. Stat wise he's trending pretty close to the same as last year. What I'm seeing is we do get pressure from the outsides somewhat consistently (Long, Sheard, Ninkovich, Flowers) and the QB escapes either to the other side or moves up. Our DTs aren't pushing their guys back consistently and Hightower can't blitz every single down.

Now you're talking! :p

What, can you name one player listed above that's played up to expectations, other than maybe Long who was a low cost signing? It's no secret that we've had several guys that haven't played up to par on defense this season.

I generally take "disappointing", when used in this sort of context, to be when someone/something underperforms expectations. That leaves players like

McClellin
Ryan
Chung
Long
etc...

off my list of possibles.

Then, while I wish the big fatties were playing better, Branch has always had an inconsistent motor, and Brown is still learning. That pretty much leaves me with Nink/Sheard/McCourty/Butler/Harmon/Hightower.

Nink - Coming off injury
Hightower - dealing with injury
Butler - dealing with injury
Harmon - due for a correction
Sheard - due for a correction
Collins - gone, also dealt with injury

That leaves McCourty. There's your most disappointing defensive player. Taking way the mitigating factors (which is counter to the analysis, but I'll get out ahead of anyone who might have asked), I'd say that my top 3 would have been

Collins
Butler
McCourty

in that order.

Patriots are 6th in points against in the NFL ...

The difference between the #1 team and the Patriots is 11 points after 9 games ... 1.222222 points per game.

Over reaction is amazing .............

Before this game, where we allowed 31:

Tyrod Taylor twice.
Ryan Tannehill.
Brock Osweiler.
Landry Jones
Browns QB's.
Andy Dalton.
And a struggling Carson Palmer.

That's a real gauntlet of QB's that they've been tested against.

1 game does not define a season ..........every team has hiccups along the way to 16.

I dont even know if I can qualify as disappointing but Logan Ryan FFS if I had a shotgun I certainly would be in for a new TV or 2 thanks to him

I felt that the D has stuffed the run pretty well. But why would you run against NE when you can just pass.. EZPZ
