We needed a blocking TE to play when Gronk or Bennett are out. Belichick decided that Derby was NOT that player. We now can run two TE sets when one of our start TE is out, or limping.

Legal might not be the guy; Traylor might no be the guy. It is clear that this position is important to Belichick. Several players have been tried and failed, or were in cured (Harbor, Scruggs, Williams and Derby).

Didn't see anything about Scruggs' injury but the facts that Brissett traveled to BUF (and jogged on the field) and being on the practice field this week probably means he's the one coming back at the beginning of December.

Honestly, I believe that had more to do with an FU to Rexy and his morons than Brissett getting back on the field.

1. I do believe the Pats have more important things to think about (no offense to Rex and his morons).

2. The feeling is Pats like Brissett and want to bring him back to practice. But there's more important aspect of this than fondness. They probably want to evaluate him the best that they can in the time remaining before the decision about Jimmy has to be made.

I agree..usually we don't care about this crap, but after being hit in the first go round, there was a threat made that it would happen again...you don't shy away, this is related to football, if you're not gonna be physical go home

Heh. I'm so pumped for this. Trevor Bates is a local kid here from Maine who played for the Black Bears. He was a beast last season but, it was against weak competition. So hard to say just how good he is. Seemed to be pretty athletic.

Losing Johnson - the only DL on the PS .. who actually played in games and looked ok (least pass y allowed w him on the field f.e.) - and having two inactive RBs on the roster in the week the #1 RB is joining .. is not very clever roster management.

Unless .. they have John Jenkins in mind ..

You are spot on. Jones is not a run-stuffer. He is more a shoot-the-gap kinda guy.

I think there is a chance he can help with the the interior pass rush on passing downs.
