Jeeze, two weeks of rest and he still won't play in basically his final audition of the season?

I don't wanna call Jimmy "glass" yet, but when you compare the fact that Brady NEVER missed a game in fifteen years due to injury (besides the ACL year), it's a pretty telling sight to behold....

According to Jeff Howe, there was likely an arm strength issue, with the arm strength not having come around fast enough for the game.

Wow. Garoppolo misses a whopping 2 games with an injury to his throwing shoulder -- an injury where every medical description says that throwing a football will be one of the slowest activities to return to at strength -- and the board decides he has a fatal character flaw?

If you had read the rest of my post, it's compared to the fact that Brady never has missed a game due to an injury, sans ACL tear, including the fact that he's played through Jimmys exact same injury several times.

It's more of a reflection on Brady's toughness more than anything.

I think most of us here thought that type of grit would rub off on Jimmy. It hasn't, so due to the fact that we'be been blessed with such a tough durable QB for 15 years, we're a little surprised the "heir apparent" isn't doing the same and toughing it out.

That son of a ***** has to die!

Yes, I'm kidding

People saying JG just won't tough it out are crazy. He knows this is his final showcase for a contract without an injury to TB. I'm sure he's done everything in his power to be ready. It just didn't happen. Think about it, if you knew toughing it out a game could mean millions of dollars you'd do it. I'm sure he wants to be out there.

Well said. Total panic brings total stupidity. As a silver lining, Jimmy G's trade value remains very high. I'm sure that didn't factor into the decision, but it sure would make teams think twice if the last game they saw of him, he was wincing to throw the ball ten yards.

Absolutely 100%. Garoppolo has every incentive...millions and millions of them...to play this game. He's smart enough to know that showing "toughness" will add even more millions to those millions.

Where are the posts appreciating that he put the Team above himself?

The issue with this is that no one is reporting its a pain issue. They are saying its a strength issue. Even in the videos of him at practice his passes were very soft and lofty. The team likely decided they would rather just play Brissett than risk Jimmy throwing 5 interceptions becasue he can't get the ball to the receivers. It has nothing to do with toughing it out when the team is telling you you can't play

Agreed.
This is turning into a Game Day thread and we're still 90 minutes from Kickoff...OMG, I just noticed that it IS the Game Day thread...I have to get out of here fast. See y'all at 4:15 or so.

So.....how about those Bills?

And thats not a pillow!

They are crazy. I honestly can't believe some of the BS being posted about this. Christ it was always a long shot of him playing ever since his diagnosis was released and these people are acting like he went home with a headache. Not to mention it wasnt even his decision not to play but the teams and he's taking all the blame

Long shot? Everyone who they brought in (medicals) said its a pain tolerance issue. Range of motion was the deal and reports were coming out that his range was back and he was throwing balls around 100 times in practice. Everyone suspected he'd play.

Wanna know why? Because it's football. Football is played hurt. 90 percent of the time. Also how do you know it's the teams decision and not his? You think Brady sits this week? Do you? No. That's the answer and that's the standard he is held to.

Jeff Howe is reporting Hightower as active.

Hightower is active

If the injury is really what's been reported (meniscus), I don't really like this. It's too easy to worsen the tear.

And, FWIW, you may put me among the cynics who believe that BB and his staff have known this all week but wanted Rex to start preparing a game plan for Garoppolo.

So much for Lyoko's theory that Scruggs meant no Cannon.

We have no idea whether or not the team told him he couldn't or could play.

And according to reports last week, the team thought he could go against Houston and were egging him on to do such.

So no one knows anything, such we're all speculating like all fans do.
