No it isn't. He's caught 100s of balls from Tom. He can't translate anticipation or fight for balls. You are so wrong here.
You just are making things up. He has never had an issue judging passes and he did EXACTLY what he was supposed to do on that play but the throw sucked.
Do you think the play call
Was for Dobson to run a go route beat his man then stop and stand in the end zone to see if it would be a bad throw?

I was hoping the front office would learn how to draft WRs before Bradys time was up here, but the search continues. Sigh

Drafted the greatest TE of all time.

In case anybody's curious, two measurables lines from the 2013 Combine:

Barkevious Mingo: 6'4 1/4" 241 4.58/2.68/1.60 ( ) 37 10'08" 4.39 6.84'
Jamie Collins: 6'3 1/2" 250 4.64/2.72/1.64 19 41.5" 11'07" 4.32 7.10

It'll be fun to see what Patricia & Co. come up with for this pair if/when Mingo gets fully integrated into the defense.

Who knows. It's so vanilla in the preseason...

I think Brisket tried to put it in a spot. Could have been under thrown. Imposdible for me to say. What i think is that Dobson's anticipation on a ball he didn't quite expect to be in that spot was slow developing. He's reaction time and adjusting to balls is not good.

Funny, he made an adjustment on a deep catch down the sideline that probably no other WR on our team could make

Throws often suck. That's why GOOD receivers adjust and go after them anyway. You can go ahead and call Fauria an idiot, too, for making the observation that Dobson could've jumped and at least attempted to high-pointed that ball. Instead, he did what he usually does which was wait for it to come to him which gives defenders an advantage. The passivity in Dobson's game is maddening.

That's ridiculous. He is running a go route full speed and bears his man. No receiver in the NFL is going to stop and come back and take the ball away from the trailing defender. Zero chance.
The ball was underthrown by 5 yards.
He STILL made an adjustment and for his hands in it but the defender was in perfect position to knock away.
You couldn't be more wrong about this. If you want to rail on Dobson find other plays because he was zero percent at fault in this one.

Why do people keep repeating the "Dobson was a 5th round prospect who was overdrafted" line? His stock varied from "expert" to "expert" but Mayock had him 60th overall. McShay and Kiper both had him as a 2nd or 3rd round prospect.

McShay replied with the following Tweet:

"Studied 4 tapes today.
I'm now sold on Dobson.
Solid NFL starter.
Size, sudden, great hands.
Feel great about him in 2nd rd!"

Not a bad opinion from one of the best draft analysts in the business.

Dobson can only hurt his stock if he has a bad combine.

McShay's counterpart and fellow ESPN Draft Analyst, Mel Kiper Jr., has stated in the past that he also thinks Dobson could be drafted in the 2nd or maybe 3rd round in April's NFL Draft.

ESPN Draft Analyst Todd McShay Praises Marshall's Aaron Dobson on Twitter

In fact, McShay in his March mock draft, had the Pats taking Dobson in the 2nd.

I know people will jump on this and mock those guys and say how stupid they are, how wrong they are, how dumb McShay is, how ridiculous Kiper's hair is, how lame Mayock is etc. But the idea that Dobson was a 5th round prospect is absolutely false and disingenous. A 3rd round guy? Sure, I'll buy that. Overdrafted a little compared to his perceived value? Ok, maybe a little.

But it's not like he was Tavon Wilson, Duron Harmon or Jordan Richards - guys who were consensus later round (or undrafted) caliber candidates. A lot of people (not just the 3 "experts" I cited) liked Dobson as a top 75 pick.

I don't have to call fauria an idiot many people have beat me to it.
You can't "high point" a ball that is underthrown. He adjusted and did a good job getting his hands in it.
He couldn't catch it above his shoulders because it was 5 yards short of him when it was at that height

I guess Gronk was passive player on The underthrown ball that ended the game in Carolina few years ago because he didn't adjust and high point the ball

That was a disgusting shot by Herzlich even in a regular season game.. he should have been ejected
It's football. It happens. Can we please stop this crisp about a defensive player making a hit being some kind of criminal event.
Sure it's great to be aware and stop but they guy caught the Balkans he was coming to make a tackle.

It's OK that you don't want to get it re., Dobson. But making special effort to double-down on that just makes you look uncharacteristically dopey.

This one?:

I don't think that makes the point you seem to be trying to make. Gronk fought back to the ball as much as he could, there was just the small obstacle of being tackled out of the play.

Luckily there are other ways to acquire weapons. I don't think Brady has complained much about having the likes of:
- Branch
- Givens
- Faulk
- Moss
- Gronk
- Hern
- Edelman
- Welker
- Amendola

Excluding 2006, Brady hasn't had as bad of weapons as some make it out to be. And outside of Chad Jackson and Dobson, have the Pats really been that bad at blowing draft capital on WRs? It just hasn't really been a need. BB has found guys in other ways (trade, FA, TEs, in house development, etc.)

Making a hit?
Coming to make a tackle?

I love tough, hard nosed football but that wasn't it, that was a neanderthal doing something dumb that got someone injured. He was on the ground, the play was over but he came in, lowered his head and made direct contact with the back of Lucien's neck

In the 4th quarter of a preseason game with 3rd stringers....

Interesting take. I hope he makes it. Not entirely sure though. I'm not a fan of Kuhn, but I feel like Belichick likes him. Johnson was way more upside.

Yes its been bad. The whole reason BB has found guys in other ways is because of our front office's inability to draft good long term WRs.

Dobson and Jackson are huge misses. Other big busts that were high picks include

Bethel Johnson 2nd round pick
Taylor Price was a 3rd round pick
Brandon Tate was a 3rd round pick
Josh Boyce 4th round pick
