Andre Johnson is a free agent we should give it a shot

I really, Really, REALLY hope that at least some of those "few others" are Offensive Lineman, including
OG Loius Vasquez, G/C Stefen Wisniewski, OG Ben Grubbs (for a medical update) and OT Will Beatty
(for a medical update).

This was about Mike Williams :

Ben Volin
Heard the workout went well, in fact.
#Patriots are contemplating
A year out of the league will go a long way towards teaching a guy to keep his mind right and his mouth shut. Could be a great move if he comes back in shape and can grasp the playbook. But if the workout "went well" I'm guessing the team likely tossed lots of questions his way and he must have passed the test to some degree.

I don't know what there is to think about. Just bring him into camp and see what he's got.

Honestly there is no harm in bringing him to OTAs and training camp for minimum no money gtd deal. Yet somehow a few on this board will act like they gave Williams a 5 years/$40m deal with $20m gtd.

Maybe the conteplation is guatanteed money and 1 or 2 yr contract.
Also how it affects rest of the receivers.

Williams (as a long shot) and Pot Roast would conclude a phenomenal FA period.

Replace Hicks - Check
LB Depth - Check
WRs with upside - Check
Upgrade at TE - Check
SCAR returns - Double Check

I'm also interested in what Donald Brown does - I know he's not been good but he's had some horrible OL in SD and Indy. Cooper I'm ignoring for now but that's some solid competition inside. Jones to Long is a downgrade but we know the situation there (contract coming to an end and I bet Bill isn't thrilled about Jon's influence on Chandler). Really want Knighton so we don't go backwards at DT.

“went well“ usually means “not good enough“

on the other hand bringing back lost souls is just so rewarding, almost addictive ...

Guy is toast

But captain troll will be along to tell us how Bill as yet again let a tremendous tremendous opportunity slip through his hands

I would however taken a flier on him with a 1 year vet min., minimal gtd deal. Just like i'm glad they are taking a flier on Harbor and there seems to be some mutual interest between the Pats and Jeff Cumberland which maybe leads to him getting signed.

Some here don't understand the concept of filling out the roster.

Saw that Miguel retweeted that, too, so seems like you're both on the same page. Remember that the Pats brought in RFA Benny Cunningham for a visit earlier in free agency; understanding from someone (Reiss?) is that the Pats didn't make an offer because they felt whatever they would do, the Rams would match.

Davis fits a similar profile -- 5'10" guys, 220-225 lbs, who have been stuck behind big-name players in the power running back role (Charles, Gurley) but have had success at kick returner. We haven't had a good kick returner here since Brandon Tate, and the new 25 yard touchback rule might actually emphasize kick returners more. Intriguing....
