The point is that it seems that if we run into even a bit of resistance toward signing a FA we just back off. When multiple teams are interested in someone we NEVER end up with them. I get not wanting to get into a bidding war but FFS.
No wonder the Patriots have been bottom feeders for so long.

Is that confirmed?

That was reported when it was reported he was visiting NE, doesn't mean that can't change though. There have been more than a few FAs that have had other visits scheduled yet never left Foxboro before they were signed.

Who wanted Amendola besides us? And Revis didn't receive any other offer, not even one from the Jets.

Revis received multiple offers (Chiefs, Steelers, Eagles). Ravens were interested in Dola as I recall.

Like we could have really used Stevie Johnson last season but of course when it came down to it we lost him to the Chargers. 3 years 10.5 million. That looks like a pretty good deal in today's market doesn't it?

Whenever it's reported that the Patriots are "in the mix" for someone they never end up with them. Every free agent they sign seems to have only been targeted by us.
That's a steal of a deal in this year's market for sure. Stevie would've been paid handsomely this year.

I don't know why you are spending so much time in this thread just trashing other posters and players. What do you get out of it?

This is how BB does things, he's not gonna go blow huge money on a flashy toy. He's gonna find a young player with upside and get him on a good deal... I don't understand why trying to find positives about a player who is about to be signed is such a f***ing travesty. If you want big splashy FA moves then go root for Miami.

Because it's disingenuous to talk up trash and to try to tell people it's raining every time you go to take a leak.

Also, I don't consider 5m a year for Sanders or 4m a year for Kearse HUGE money (especially given their TALENT)

Johnson went to SD b/c of family.

I'm sure it's not a factor because I don't think the players give a s.hit. But part of me kind of fears that some FAs look down on the choice of coming to Pats because of the reputation brought on by all the bull.**** scandals. I have literally nothing to back that up but it nags me a bit.

I don't want to get in a beef with you but I just don't understand your mindset. Why do you come here at all then? Yeah I guess the Pats are f***ed this year, no hope of a ring because every receiver left is complete trash without any redeeming qualities in any of them whatsoever...

Belichick gets more with less if he were to ever go broke on free agency wed go undefeated but then be in cap hell

My friend Kevin said the same thing he said other Teams in the AFC hate us which is why Jones and Matthews signed elsewhere

Chris Hogan could end up being a steal. Who knows what his ceiling is with the crap QBs he had throwing to him in Buffalo? He could end up being a pretty good #2 WR with Brady throwing to him.

But imagine if the team had a year of injuries like last year, except instead of being filled with home grown talent, they were stocked full of expensive free agent signings. Once the top guys went down they would have been done for. The team probably would've had a losing season.

A lot of times we lose out on WR because they will be the 3rd option, at best, here. We are stuck between a rock and a hard place, in a good way. We need WR but more for depth and the future but young vets want catches.

Remember our offense with a healthy Gronk, Edelman, Lewis. No LaFell and no-one noticed. We need depth and young upside which isn't attractive to the Mathews/Sanu types.

We went 2-4 (3-5) counting the post season after losing our top guys/home grown talent. Your "point" lacks merit.

What...? The injury bug was slamming the team the entire season....

What are you even talking about?
