The more time that goes on, the more I have trouble rooting for Kraft

Perhaps your opinion is correct, but that is all the more reason to try to do something about it. If Wells was given a predetermined result, that is more reason for Kraft to conduct his own investigation and communicate his concerns and findings to Goodells other 31 bosses.

You don't think he's gauged the opinions of the other owners? Have you been reading recent articles about new and old school owners and their dissension?

I don't care what he 'gauged'. Given the gravity of this situation in:
1) The reputation of the franchise
2) The future success of the franchise due to lost picks
3) The reputation of Tom Brady
4) The potential distraction for team which is still ongoing

and the fact that they were penalized for doing nothing, I would expect him to CONVINCE the owners of the facts, not gauge their opinion. I have no doubt that many owners took Wells findings as fact. The league hired him, and as far as those owners knew there was no real dispute about those findings, other than the Patriots didn't like them.
Had Kraft communicated to them everything we know now, they would clearly know there was no violation. It is silly to believe they would force their partner to accept a punishment when he has proven innocence.

"Gauging their opinion" without showing them facts is the same as quitting.

you'll never know if the result was predetermined because nobody is ever going to admit it

with the exception of the appeal, I think all ships have sailed on this........it is obvious Kraft is not cut out for this kind of fight.......in retrospect, it is very much who he is.......the moment the convention center site as a football stadium venue got real, he bailed. He then got his stadium done through Hartford

It might have been more entertaining if Jonathan were king, but he's not

you could call that the mindless hardass approach........which is probably why Kraft has been as successful financially as he has been because he doesn't do that......I guess that's too bad for you, but chances are, Kraft along with what he has invested see bigger things than a million dollars and a couple of draft picks.

regarding deflategate, reputations have been set in stone for a long time.......the pats reputation was set before deflategate to the haters out there....I don't give a ****.....I still like the team and even though they got screwed, they will persevere

The chance of that was better if Goodell was presented with an independent report that refuted the Wells report and the other 31 owners also were met with and given that report to prove nothing had actually happened, so the majority of his 32 bosses understood the Wells report, which he based his entire decision on was a piece of crap.

See people here rip Goodell for not knowing the Wells report is crap. While we all understand why, Wells and Exponent put up experts defending the report as pristine and error free. Goodell hired Wells to tell him if a violation occurred. Wells said it did. How do you expect Goodell to not 100% take Wells report as fact if Kraft and the Patriots DO NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO REFUTE IT.

PERHAPS YOU'RE MIS-REMBERING THIS???
Patriots Launch A Website Explaining #DeflateGate

Which is why people are upset that he capitulated. Why refute the Wells report at all if you're only prepared to fight it 1/4 of the way? Why create the website, refute the findings of the Wells report and then just quit when you have the scientific truth on your side? To have that and then lay down and accept punishment is unacceptable and the reasons he did it for make it even worse.

maybe he is who he is, does things the way he does them and doesn't give a **** what a bunch of yahoos think

maybe........and this could be going out on a limb, but........he realizes much better than the yahoos do, how limited his options were and that .... and this may be another stretch, but ....... the rest of the complete big picture led him to do things the way he did them

couple that with his complete lack of interest to fully explain everything to the yahoos has the yahoos:

Actually it's not the way he does things, he's been described as ruthless by people who have had business dealings with him. And he sure seems concerned with what a particular set of yahoos think of him.

Tired of hearing no options, it's simply not true. Even if his options were limited, they weren't nonexistent. He took the cowards way out.

Its not hardass at all, it's what any smart business owner would do, if he didn't have an agenda that conflicted with the best interest of his team.
Kraft chose to bend over so as not to offend Goodell and the 32.
If Kraft's decision was to turn his back on his franchise for the sake of not damaging Goodell's image, that is his right, but it is not what is best for the franchise.
Since when does an owner making decisions that hurt the franchise but line his pockets deserve the support of fans?

They will not persevere as well as they would have if they were not screwed.
I don't really care what you personally think about the reputation of the team, but it does matter.

I personally don't care what you think about Kraft..........provided you have no clue as to what is in the best interest of the team......you refuse to see past the a single issue.....extremely myopic

as for persevering as well....you have no clue....draft picks are quite frequently busts and without knowing who they would have drafted, you have no basis for your claim

That was after he 'ended the rhetoric' and 'accepted the penalty' and 'will not appeal'.

cherrypicking........you should just admit that you don't like Kraft and didn't like him probably since Parcells flew the coop

So the sign of knowing you are wrong is throwing out bs, huh?

I know that what is best for the team is not losing draft picks for no reason. Please explain how this punishment is whats best for the team. Please explain how taking punishment for something they did not do with out any objection at all is whats best for the team.

As far as your myopic claim, it is moronic. I am discussing one issue. There is nothing to 'see past' because it is one, isolated issue that is being discussed. I have not applied it to anything other than itself.

You keep reaching further and actually weakening your own argument.

yes......ruthless .... look at the way he did business with the pats after buying out the track, then the stadium and then getting the team.....he put the fear into the area that he was taking the team to CT......none of this has any relevance to being tied to 31 other teams plus a commissioner

the guy has been very successful by NOT doing things the way you say he should

What?
I said he did nothing to fight the penalty, and you pull up something done after he stated that he accepts the penalty and will not appeal, and that's cherrypicking? Do you understand what that term even means?

I don't hate Kraft at all. I hate the way he handled this situation. Of course since you can't argue the points I am making with any semblance of intelligence you are forced to go with "Yo dude, don't be a hater".

Please feel free to find any other comments I have ever made that were negative about Kraft other than this issue. But, you know they don't exist.

more insanely idiotic cherrypicking...........the sheer stupidity of your point ids the baseless notion that besides standing there screaming like a total jackass as you recommend, there is nothing for him to do

you whole point is complete ******** based on supposed knowledge you don't have

you're not making a single valid point......you have zero basis to say anything you're saying....you're a fricking dog barking at a parked car

Kraft accepting punishment for something that never happened or at the very least was not proven was not in the best interests of the Patriots. It was in the best interest of Kraft personally, the NFL Office and the other 31.

He had no options that were both best for the franchise and best for 'the 32'.
He chose 'the 32'.
He can do that if he wants, but that doesn't mean he didn't screw the fans. It also means his pandering comments about caring about the fans, etc are disingenuous.
