Decent piece on Brady from ESPN: The Mag, of all places

Ops, already posted, does anyone know how to delete a thread please?

Not going to click on anything ESPN. Maybe if someone copies/pastes the good parts...

It's a pretty pointless puff piece with no new information whatsoever

As all these article go, it was OK. Occasionally I.bristled at some of his Deflategate observations. Of course he skated around the guilt or innocence issue, even while he acknowledged the stupidity of the entire affair. The best parts were the personal insights with his wife and kids. It is worth the read, and one of the better things you'll get from BSPN

Great article on Brady but sidesteps deflategate. Still waiting for them to declare deflategate scientifically disproven.

i think the author thought the whole deflate investigation was stupid. Brings up Panthers-Vikings incident. and from article:

The error-filled media leaks; the pearl-clutching concern about the integrity of the game; an investigation that seemed determined to find guilt as much as facts; a comedy of circumstance interwoven with league politics; all of it is surreal, in retrospect.

I actually liked how little was spent on Deflategate. It minimizes it, trivializes it, which everyone should.

Agreed. I would have clicked away if it hadn't bee so dismissive of Deflategate. Although I rolled my eyes at the whole "In hindsight, it's so surreal" remark. No. It was plenty ridiculous and surreal at the time to anyone with half a brain. Which disqualifies the great majority of ESPN, I suppose.

It was a good article if you think synthesising previously published stuff is good journalism -- it was fairly comprehensive and appeared to be accurate.

But there are some things left open. The article says that TB is "more spiritual than religious". Yet I think that it's public knowledge that he and his family are regular church-goers. Also, for someone who's supposed not to be political, it is, at least, surprising, that he calls up a super-wealthy banker, whom he doesn't know, to give him his support. A proper journalist would have pursued some enquiries about that kind of thing.

fuk them who cares what anyone from ESPN has to say....not gonna read it

it's probably the mentality: "If we're nice about them, maybe they'll lose"

friggin skunks

Van Valkenburg with a long piece on Brady:

From The Mag: Tom Brady's big reveal

Thanks for the link OP!

I initially didn't want to click anything related to BSPN, but wondered what did they write for you to tag it as 'decent'.

Boy, am I glad I read it. One of the better pieces on Brady! Well written and flushes out so many points that might at least given an inkling to the non-pats masses about what Brady's life as a celebrity and how incredible that he still maintains this focus. (plus, maybe understand how common it is for celebrities to destroy their old phones.)

And what a diss of Rex Ryan. Deft writing and I am surprised you think this was just decent. :)

Brady thinks he has many more seasons left? Music to ears!! I hope he continues to perform at this level and have 10 SB rings.

GO PATS!!

What an amazingly complimentary article written by a member of espn.

I'm wondering what the motive is.
