Since there seems to be some interest in discussing some of the other AFCE teams besides our own, I thought that maybe we can have those discussions here. Please feel free to add any thoughts that you have. I would also include Indy in the discussion, since they were in the AFCE at the beginning of the Brady era.

Since this idea came from a post in the Jets Suck thread, let me start there. Let me also preface that with the announcement that I was originally a supporter of that team because they helped shut up the old NFLers with their SB win in 1969. However, that all changed when they conspired to take Parcells from us and distracted him from giving us his best in the 96 SB loss to Brint Favre and the Packers. And it's been all downhill since.

I don't see a very bright future for the Jets, even though they did have more success than normal this year. I think I can sum up their problems with two words, Revis and Fitzpatrick. Revis because he's going to cost them so much to the cap and will be on the decline and Fitzy because he'll need to be replaced, and that will cost more money. I'm not a cap expert, but those seem like major hurdles to overcome.

I'll get to the other teams later. Let me know what you all think.

I will come back and voice my thoughts when i can stop laughing at the jets choke long enough to put them together.

That should be around training camp....

Also Marshall is a ticking time bomb.

I give him half of next season before he blows up the locker room and causes a mid season meltdown of epic proportions.

The Jets' success is not sustainable for several reasons.

1. Woody Johnson
2. Revis will continue to slow down
3. Cap/cash crunch (D line, Revis)
4. Marshall is not getting younger
5. Fitzy will NEVER have a season like this one again

With that said with only 6 draft picks Maccagnan didnt have a lot to work with draft-wise but he had a pretty good year in FA and trades but with Wilkinson, Fitzy, Ivory, Harrison, Davis and Powell- all good players hitting FA and $110m committed to next year already they can't bring them all back...I don't think?

Pats also have the same amount committed but not nearly as many FAs. Signing Hicks and Collins are keys. High too.

Bills and Fins are kind of jokes right now... the Jets can make the playoffs next year, if they focus on the run game and let Fitzy be a game manager, NOT a 300-yard a game guy. But here in the NY metro, you would not believe how quickly the fanbase has turned on Fitzy... for one bad QUARTER.

Below is a depiction of Jets fans feelings on Fitzy since the fourth quarter of the Buffalo game. Basically...

...it's a feeding frenzy. LOL... don't they remember how much their OTHER QB sucks?

The Jets are a pretty old team. Fitzy, Revis, Cromartie, Harris, Pace, Marshall, DBrick, Mangold are all past their primes. The future doesn't look particularly bright for them, but I could see them making the playoffs next year.

It is a little early for this type of thread, but I wanted to try and steer a couple of Jets fans away from the Jets Suck thread. They're trying (unsuccessfully btw) to take away my enjoyment of that thread.

It's also why I encouraged the addition of Indy, to avoid messing up the Indy Sucks thread with regular football talk.

Crazy to think that Fitzpatrick is the best QB they've had since Pennington. I like him but I mean, Fitz's gonna Fitz. Which he did hard in that final game.

So sad he's leaving as a free agent.

At least they have geno, that's a silver lining.....

Ya but Pats have at least one full season with Hightower and Collins to sign them long term. Those guys you listed for the jests are all hitting the market (unless tagged) in March.

I remember when Pennington was leaving the Jets and I was hoping he'd come here. If he had he would have been Brady's replacement in 2008 instead of Cassel. That could have made the difference and got that Pats team to a playoff spot.

Damn it oldie, you must have the largest collection of pics and vids on earth. You're computer must be as big as Norad's in War Games.

1. Screw Woody Johnson. When I heard Mark Schlithead the other day on radio whining that the Pats are being treated this way because they have a history of cheating, I couldn't help but think of Woody and his blatant tampering with Revis.
2. Revis has one thing still going for him, and it was evident in the pick he made against the Pats in week 16. He studies the game and knows what's happening. That pick could have been a direct result of him spending the previous season here. He probably faked Gronk into thinking he was in one coverage and jumped to the appropriate one. That won't help him for much longer.
3. I'm not much of a cap guy. I've never looked at players in any other way than how they perform on the field.
4. Marshall has been busy this year with his regular spot on Inside The NFL. That can't help.
5. I've never been against Fitzy as most fans. It's possible that he could still be learning.

I actually like Fitzy. I just think he had the year of his life and being in his mid-30s hes not getting any better than he is now.

Yea I didn't say it right but thats what I meant. They can sign High to an extension and soften the 7m cap hit for 2016.

Yes on Collins too. They don't need to sign him to an extension but getting him long term starting 2016 would be nice.

Yes on the Jests. They really have a talent retention problem...

Being consistently good in the NFL is a rare thing.

Also Marshall is a ticking time bomb.

I can't celebrate his behavioral problems, even though he's on the Jets. He's wrestling with a horrific medical issue at the root of it, and is deserving of support in the process. The basic human decency of that trumps the fact that he happens to be playing for the Jets right now.

I hope everything else goes wrong for the Jets next year, other than Marshall having a relapse.

Yep. To win a Super Bowl, 99% of the time you're going to need a top QB. The Jets, Bills and Dolphins don't have one.
