Any word on Chung and Amendola?

Give him a break, I am still completely baffled that a vast organization like the NFL didn't have anyone who had ever learned the Ideal Gas Law in freshman physics.
I give the people on this board more credit than the mongoloids in the nfl offices lol

Teams owe it to their customers to try and win every week.. It is one thing to rest players nursing injuries.. It's another to simply bench players people expected to see when they bought tickets..

Tickets cost too much for any team to put out a half effort..

It's wrong.. But that is my humble opinion..

I agree

I know the risk in buying a late season ticket. I travel 2000 miles, pay for a really expensive ticket, airfare, hotel etc.etc. for one game a season and I expect they play the best players they got. But I don't pick the last games of the season anymore, been burned, but it is bs. I also know the patriots organization doesn't care about one singled out fan, just collecting my money. It's a business.

I know..

It should fall under an ethics code..

Integrity of the game..

An NFL game should be played at a high level..

Suh aside, I’d hate going into Miami under a ‘must win’ scenario. The Phins may have mentally checked out, BUT:

- We are their division rival

- WE are playing MUST WIN mode, and they’d want nothing more than ruining our #1 seed chances

- We ‘took out’ (in their eyes at least) Cam Wake…. Trust me, they’ll be looking to take one of ours, and presumably, one of our best players to boot (TB, Gronk, etc.)

We NEED to take care of business against the Jets. Not to mention, that would kick that green garbage out of playoffs contention altogether. That’s 2 birds in one shot. Mentally ‘skipping’ over the Jets and kicking the can down the road is a sure recipe for disaster. Any given Sunday…. Don’t forget that. And Miami will be all in to fck with us. Lastly, that’s one more game that we will need our starters if it comes down to it. I’d much rather take care of the Jets, and rest the starters against Miami.

Just my 2c

I see your point but given the state of some of the Pats key players like HT, Dola, McCourty, and Chung, if they are not ready I would rest them against the Jets. Jets are also a division rival and they are playing a MUST Win game. They are pretty healthy and Pats can't afford possibly losing a key player that's already hurt for longer than the playoffs.

On the other hand Phins have checked out. They won't have their C or LT, and will play two undrafted rookies at LB. They have nothing to play for. We already beat them bad when they had hope. They looked pathetic against SD, have no offense. This game would be much easier to win and give the guys that need it rest, and those that don't a good game before the bye week.

I trust BB will make the right decision but HT fresh off an injury, got hurt again. We can not lose HT or the playoffs are over. He is the key to stopping the run game imo.

Good then make it free since it isn't a real game..

You can make the argument resting players doesn't work as many teams have come out flat..

It's the entertainment biz.. Do you think people who bought tic for this game in the summer want to see anybody but Brady??

Do you have tickets for the game in Miami?

You seem to be confusing a football game with a Broadway show.

Not sure if I want Amendola to play. Too risky he'll re-aggravate his knee.

Definitely don't want him returning punts.

I believe in BB's philosophy of 'football players play football' however, the injury has now been aggravated once. Unless the docs are quite sure the risk of a second aggravation is starkly minimal, this is a clear red flag of a higher threshold to be hit to allow DA playing time. I know for BB it usually comes down to how one performs in practice and their response to treatment -- a good philosophy -- yet I will cringe this Sunday if I see DA doing ST return work and playing anything more than a limited number of snaps.
On the ST side it sucks to not have DA (and Jules). Pretty obvious our STs return game has been hurt by the absence of these two. It is what it is; we are going to have to get by with Martin et al until Jules and DA are fully back.

Our playoff O will resemble the first half if the season if we have all the available piece parts. As defenses shift around to plug the leaks the Patriots' passing game causes our ability to also shift around to softer coverage spots throwing to established proven production (Gronk, Jules, White, DA, LaFell) is what will see drives sustained at that first half of the season level (close to it). Bottom line, lose one of those links (in this instance a DA reaggravation) almost certainly equals less third downs convertedless drives sustained. These last 2 games just do not even closely carry the importance of the maximized ability to sustain drives in the POs.

Yeah i don't want to see him taking punts...rather see Martin

You and the others are posting your complaints in the wrong forum. This is a Patriot fan forum. You want to lodge your complaints on a football attendee forum.
As Patriot Fans we want the Patriots to win the SB. Needlessly risking Brady or DA or anyone critical to the end goal of winning the SB for the sake of pleasing an attendee who wants to get a glimpse of Brady is, IMHO, not a Patriot fan view. It is a football attendee view.

Hypothetically, if this can even mathematically happen, if the Jets secure the sixth seed this weekend and win or lose in week 17 they are the 6th seed, feel free to start a forum/letter campaign to urge the Jets to play Revis all game in week 17. You'll get similarly disregarded in a Jet fan forum but you may get traction in a Jet football attendee forum. They may just want to see Revis play regardless of it having the distinct possibility of hurting the Jets chances to win in the POs.

I regret I had only one like to give that post.

I don't have any problem with facing either Cincinnati or Pittsburgh in an away contest for the AFC championship, but I wouldn't want to go to Denver. The Pats have had a hard time winning there for decades.

Well, it can't be Pittsburgh, since we hold a 3 game lead on them (plus the head to head tiebreaker) and there's only 2 games remaining.

I agree that I wouldn't be as worried about going to Cincy, although I still believe that they'd have Dalton back by that time, as well as a tough team and a pumped up crowd. Still not quite as bad as Denver, though.

The Broncos are still alive as regards the number one seed.

The only real way that DEN could earn the #1 seed is if they'd win their last two, while NE would lose their last two. That would make both teams 12-4, and DEN would hold the tiebreaker. Probably not too likely to happen in my opinion.

I think that is what folks are suggesting. Sure Brady and Edelman should get a quarter or so together. But, in general, only the healthy should play in Game 17, as was the case last year. And there is a strong argument that we treat Game 16 in the same way, although that seems doubtful.

We get two bites at this apple, but I doubt that Belichick wants to go into a must win scenario down in MIA for week 17--at least "on purpose." (whatever loose definitions you wish to apply to "must win," or "on purpose")

The team will simply have to suck it up, come out and play with a limited amount of talent, just the same way as in Denver a few weeks ago. I wouldn't even consider playing Amendola. Obviously, Edelman isn't going to play, which most of us have assumed for over a month. Guys like LaFell, Martin, White, and the running game will have to step up and give it their all. The defense will need to keep us in it.

Any guys who are on the border and may be in danger of a longer recovery period while exacerbating their injury should probably sit this week and next, in my opinion. The list would include Edelman, McCourty, Amendola, and probably one or both of Chung/Hightower.

This upcoming Cincy/Den game is an interesting one I'm looking forward to. Obviously Red Rider is out, however, in the POs what if he or just the O in general lay an egg? A SB caliber team, IMHO, sees their D (coaching and players) kick it up to their highest notch and try to win the game largely from their effort (at least holding the opposing O to a noticeably modest total).
For Cincy there is a Bye at stake. They win and they get that crucial prize (with Red Rider hurt it is even more crucial to get that extra week). If ever there was a time for their D to show it is/can be a main factor in their SB aspirations the time is right now. So I'm interested to see if they fold like a cheap suit or make Denver have to work hard for just about every point.
IMHO if Denver rolls up 30 offensive points then Cincy is still Cincy, a decent team that remains a pretender among AFC leaders.

I think if there's any team out there right now who's hurting (aside from the obvious AFC South), it's Denver. I do think that they can turn things around a bit and still pose as a formidable threat against the 6th seed in the postseason (probably Pittsburgh), seeing as how the game is at home, and how they still have a tough defense.

Like you said, this upcoming DEN/CIN matchup will be worth watching no matter what. I have a feeling that we may see a stronger effort from Cincy in this game than many seem to expect, although that's just based on my opinion alone.
