We really need to put things into perspective.

The Pats have lost;
Their top all around RB for the season.
Their best FB for the season.
Their best LT and another OL for the season.
Two promising rookie DBs for the season.
Two of their backup WRs for the season.

They also entered this last game without;
The best TE in the NFL.
The best slot receiver in the NFL.
Their top DLineman in the middle.
One of their best, if not the best, LBs on the team.
And another of their promising DBs.

That was after they lost quite a few more games from;
The only other two WRs on the team.
The other possibly best LB on the team.

And had to deal with injuries in this game with;
Their 2nd, 3rd and 4th best TEs.
One of their top DEs.
One of their top DTs.
And a couple more of their OLineman.

And they're sitting at 10-2 tied with the best record in the AFC, with their only two losses being at Denver in OT and this last game, a game they lost after a remarkable comeback fell short on a wobbly 3rd down pass that barely made it. Anyone taking shots at this team now looks like a complete idiot. I'm so proud of this team that it gives me goosebumps.

We as Patriot's fans are quite spoiled, we expect next man up to give us the same level of play as when we are healthy. That being said, the injuries weren't the reason they lost to a hugely inferior team. Injuries didn't cause a blocked punt for a TD, a pick six (Brady throwing into triple coverage), and a punt return for a TD. Even if they play relatively conservative mistake free football they win that game easily. Defense only gave up 14 points. Almost impossible to give up a punt return TD, blocked punt TD and a pick six, and still win the game. It's only happened 3 times in the history of football (weird fact, all 3 by the Eagles). Horrible mistakes lost that game.

Yesterday was a perfect storm.

No JE or Gronk
No Hightower who seems to be the glue of the D
Line play was average/below average
Doldrums of late season football (we have seen this before...this team always has 1-2 clunkers)
Philly has one of the best STs in league
Brady trying to do too much
Coaching staff had a very average game.

4 games left....need to win 3 of 4

I'll never question their heart. I think we figured out in 2013 and certainly last season that this team doesn't quit no matter how adverse the circumstances are.

They just didn't play very well yesterday in any facet of the game and in the NFL that gets you beat more often than not regardless of the quality of the opponent.

I have to agree. We lost one of those games (reminds me of the Ravens loss in the playoffs when we were down 21-0 before we blinked). We made some critical mistakes, but the team fought hard and almost made a historical comeback. James White emerged as a threat, Chandler didn't drop balls and DA looked great. Sometimes you lose a battle, but it's how you fight that matters. Championships are won in January and with a healthy roster we can not just beat we can dominate anyone.

I admire how they have performed through injuries this season, but yesterday was a disgrace. The Pats were clearly the better team on the field and they handed the Eagles the game with stupid mistakes. Belichick being to cute on a kick off gave them life. A missed blocking assignment on a punt gave them 7 points. A stupid decision by Brady on a goal line pass gave them 7 (and it was a 10-14 point swing because of it). Poor tackling on kick off coverage gave them another 7.

It is ok to admit they were dog turds yesterday. It doesn't change that they are a gutsy team that have played through stuff that would have made most teams fold and look towards 2016 long ago.

It's almost like they didn't take the Eagles that seriously with the trick plays, strange decisions, risky plays and just all around subpar football. Maybe they had good reason not to, as maybe this was an exhibition game to them in a way with a loss to an NFC opponent not meaning a whole lot for seeding implications. Who knows.

Hopefully they put that stuff back in the bag in the next one since a loss to the Texans might be lethal for our bye hopes.

Yup. Yesterday was a nice reminder that any given Sunday still does apply to us. It was starting to feel like it didn't.

Seems like I feel like this after at least one game every year. Looking back, someone reported it has been 56 games since Pats lost 2 in a row....just don't want to see how I feel after losing 3 in a row.....

I could be prouder if they pulled out the win yesterday.

That would make me happier but not prouder.

Any other team with the incredible amount of injuries that the Pats have endured wouldn't even be competing in games. The Pats are 10-2.

You and the people who agreed with you need to look up the definition of the word. Never mind, here it is for you;

1. the loss of respect, honor, or esteem; ignominy; shame.
2. a person, act, or thing that causes shame, reproach, or dishonor or is dishonorable or shameful.
3. the state of being out of favor; exclusion from favor, confidence, or trust:

verb (used with object), disgraced, disgracing.
4. to bring or reflect shame or reproach upon.
5. to dismiss with discredit; put out of grace or favor; rebuke or humiliate.

If anything's disgraceful it's the use of that word to describe this Pats team.

Taking a shot at the team is well deserved. The ST played probably the worst of any team this year. That is unacceptable. The O-Line being HEALTHY and still playing like **** is unacceptable. Wide receivers running half ass routes after spewing ******** over film sessions is unacceptable. Stop with this "I'm better than the rest of the fans because I didn't chew them out" crap.

Yeah, sometimes you just have to call a spade a spade. The team just hasn't been playing well in many ways the past couple of games, even though we know they're capable of much more.

The STs gaffes don't just apply to the Eagles game, either. I seem to recall a very important STs error in Denver that stole all of our momentum as we were coasting to victory in the 4th quarter, and allowed the Broncos to see new life and make it a one score game.

None of that has anything to do with injuries.

We lost one of those games (reminds me of the Ravens loss in the playoffs when we were down 21-0 before we blinked).

That's a bit concerning in that you're reminded of an underachieving and limited talent 2009 team that Bill Belichick was quoted as saying, "I just can't get this team to play like they need to."

Let's hope that we get things back on track and don't end up with the 3 seed and the same situation. We need to turn it around right freaking now, as that bye week is huge for many of reasons. The most important likely being Julian Edelman and a chance at a return from injury.

I'm perfectly willing to criticize this team after the loss to Philly. The onside kick was terrible and ill timed. Brady's forced pass to Amendola deserves criticism as well. Hell, I'll still post now and then about the multi-dumbentional 4th and 2 call at Indy in 2009 and the lack of even an attempt at running the ball against the poor run defense of the 2011 Giants. But calling this loss or this team a disgrace right now makes me want to puke.

The mistakes are being made by the backups to the backups, even on STs. Because of that, I will be surprised if they end up with one of the top 2 seeds in the AFC and would be even prouder of the team than I am now if it happened.

Thanks for posting this. After reading this definition, I have come to the belief that disgraceful is the exact wording that describes the Patriots performance from the stupid Ebner pooch punt until they finally mounted a comeback down by 21 points in fourth quarter. The Patriots in that game did things that we usually make fun of other teams doing. They were a far superior team (even with the injuries) that gave away an easily winnable game with stupid mistakes, arrogance, and poor execution

A game performance can be disgraceful without making the team itself disgraceful. Stop being so sensitive. I bet if you asked the Patriots players how they describe their performance on Sunday with the Belichick speak, many of them would use the word disgraceful to describe it.

And thanks for responding. Considering the circumstances with the incredible amount of injuries, I don't look at the team as a disgrace for this game. I also don't consider the team far superior to Philly under those same circumstances. The 35 straight points at our house against the backups to the backups proved that. Maybe scott99 was correct that some of us are spoiled.
