I’m sure that you guys are getting all worked up about nothing. No need to panic and trade away all of our draft picks until we know something definitive. People freaked about Solder’s elbow and his elbow turned out to be perfectly fine. Relax and drink a bottle of wine or two or three... it helps.

Hate to beat a dead horse but why didn't we take a CB early on in the Draft??? Yeah and I don't want to hear about the 7th Rounder we IRed! Jordan Richards better turn into the next Ed Reep or Troy P to justify that selection.

I think this is substantially the same argument that "proved" Jamie Collins was a terrible pick.

Its not 2004 whenBB could just plug in dB's and tell em to mug receivers 15 yards down field.. Guys gotta have some modicum of talent...first week pats face a competent qb could be telling...luck for all his below avg play this season is best they've faced...better than rothelsomething w/o top receiver/rb

Luck is good when he has 3 seconds to throw. He starts throwing picks when the pass rush is all over him. I'm not worried about luck. The Pats will be fine through the rest of the season but definitely need to add some reliable depth.

Brown has been very solid, but why are people ignoring the fact that he has not played much in recent weeks and the defense has still performed well?

The biggest issue is the depth. Hopefully the rest of the guys in the secondary can stay healthy.

He hasn't played much at all. We're built to minimize the necessity of great corners. Lots of pass rushers, lots of safeties.

Everybody has injuries.

BB is definitely not perfect CB was a DEFINITE NEED in the Draft going in you don't draft a NEED poition in the Seventh Round.

There's a difference between saying he's not perfect and making a post which sounds like they had no clue what they were doing.

CB being a Need doesn't change their draft rankings. They never have and never will reach for a player who they have ranked lower than their current position. I can't remember who said it but I think it's true - you don't build a winning team by passing on talent to draft need.

Richards had either a 1st or 2nd round ranking for the team. I know this because they drafted him in the 2nd round. Based on everything I've read from this team, I don't think they're gonna say "welp, this guy would be a good value here based on our rankings but we can probably get him 5 rounds later" because they have no idea what other team's draft boards look like. Which is required in order to label someone a reach, not what armchair analysts and weird dudes with big hair say.

Well, there were hardly any real "starters" depending how you look at it.
You had DMC and Chung. Thats about it. Maybe Arrington but he was on the outside.

If Melvin works out, we traded a guy who looked like he could help for a guy who will play.

In that case, Maybe Brandon Dixon, Dax Swanson or mystery waiver.

He has played well in his small sample size. Bummer about the foot. I would not be surprised if this turns into the kind of thing that forces him to leave the game early. I hope not. I hope he can find a way to be on the field down the stretch run and into the playoffs. I don't know how optimistic I am, though.

It's a shame that we basically got nothing out of the 4 veteran signings: McClain, Fletcher, Cox, and now Brown. Just having one of those pan out could've gone a long way.

I agree with you that the secondary looked better with Brown in there. Fingers crossed he can return at some point.

Its the results that matter.

If they win the SB, then everything that they've done has been that of process and circumstance.

If they lose the SB or do not advance due to bad CB play, it's on BB for not adequately restocking the shelves.

Fair or unfair that is reality.

I'm pretty confident that they'll make a trade within the next two weeks.

As bad as that 2011 defense was, they were quite solid during the playoffs. 10pts vs Broncos and 19 vs Giants(yeah they lost but that game was much more on the offense) wasn't bad at all. Ravens game they were okish..

Brown played well from little I saw. Just a shame about this injury. Hope he is OK and doesn't have to go on IR.

The difference is really in the front 7.

The front 7 is a key difference, but don't undersell the secondary. Butler is playing better than whomever of McCourty/Arrington was playing the best at the time. Ryan is playing better than the worse of the two. McCourty is substantially better than any safety on the 2011 squad, Harmon is better than any FS, Chung is playing better than he was (and even if he weren't, he missed most of 2011), and Richards is superior depth.

For all the hue and cry, this defense isn't close to 2011 even if you ignore the front 7.

Could we all resist the urge to play doctor? It's pointless.

Is playing psychiatrist ok? I did that in a chat room years ago and I was pretty good at it.

We need to trade for someone but the problem is that we have so little draft capital to trade. Not having a 1st next year makes our 2-4 round picks absolutely precious.
Generally I would agree, but this season, perhaps more than any other, needs to end with a SB win.
The FO should not allow it to end without one simply because the team is being compromised by only
one particular position.
