NFL, Brady file consent motion to expedite appeal briefing and argument schedule

So muh for Brady sitting 4 games in the middle of the season...

This is good news. Brady gets to play entire season, post-season, and SB without having to worry about this crap. At the same time, this doesn't get dragged out indefinitely. I disagree with Lester "The Molester" Munson that the NFL wins the appeal, but then again neither one of us are lawyers.

I was talking to my neighbor (a circuit judge) this morning about this, he's read all the released legal documents from this case and is convinced that Berman's language in his filing pretty much makes the ruling appeal-proof

I'm a lawyer, and I agree. I'd bet a 90% chance the appellate court doesn't disturb Berman's ruling.

So oral arguments would start right in the middle of the playoffs?! wtf...

Not to stick up for Goodell ... but he has no choice at this point but to exercise every legal option ...

Goodell is in a canoe without a paddle ... but keep splashing the water Rog...

I think a turd in a maelstrom is a more accurate analogy.

I would just as soon the courtroom got swallowed up in an earthquake at this point. Please let us enjoy our child's game played to perfection by Brady and controlled like a master, by Belichick.

Go sue somebody for spilling hot coffee in their lap, OK?

If he was Japanese, he'd have another choice...an honorable one.

As I said at some earlier stage -- lawyers can be incredibly obnoxious in many ways, and New York City lawyers especially so. Even so, they often are quite decent and reasonable on matters of timing, probably because that's in their own interest as much as it is in their clients'.

Also, as we've seen in many criminal cases that involve athletes, courts themselves respect that these guys have very seasonal work lives, and are generally willing to ensure that the worst of a guy's legal hassles occur in the offseason.

A lawyer who's screen name is chumpchange. Well done.

You must be corp law. I've paid you guys way too much over the years

Bottom line: If this schedule is adopted, the ruling would almost certainly be AFTER Super Bowl 50.

He's had the option not to move forward, from day one. He's still got that option. This notion that he's got no choice is absolute nonsense put out by the media in order to justify the witch hunt.
