Revis was really good, but Browner was not good, he was cut because he did not play CB at a level that merited $5.5M. He graded out as the 75th best CB in the NFL and was good for 3 penalties per game. The team took a big loss when Revis walked but in my opinion it is better off without Browner.

He was useful to have in those cases where you needed a very physical corner to...

blow up a block,
preventing an effective pick,
allowing a teammate to make goal line interception,
and thereby securing a Super Bowl win!

Yes, the penalties at other times were rough. It's nice to give BB a mix of different types of tools in the tool chest, though, if money isn't a concern (of course it always is, though).

Wow.

Anyone remember sort of a similar case, 8-10 years ago, with Minnesota?
They signed someone we released but wanted, and we signed some back-up linebacker to our 53. Maybe Dan Herron?

Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Normally you would think - oh, he is the guy we sign and release six times. But he has already signaled he will sign elsewhere if we do. So not a normal 53rd man type guy.

They really wanted this guy - good to know. I really do think that they had him and Darryl Roberts very close together on their board with Roberts having a slight edge. Let's hope they can keep hold of him now.

He's got to be ours (on the 53) for 3 weeks, so if he stays healthy, I'd think he's gonna stick.

A little too early. I hoped that he would learn in Seattle till week 4 or 5 and then he should be snagged from them.

But maybe he ll blossom in 2half, he has similar numbers as Roberts who i think would be starter in 2 half or maybe earlier.

Tommorow will be test for Butler. If he is n1 cornerback he can show us with covering Antonio Brown.
I think that Tarell Brown is really good and one of the best n2 corneback in game. As long as they have some good pressure in front they ll be legit.

I prefer to get him into our system as soon as possible. It's interesting that he was the go to signing the minute they had a spot on the roster. For example, they signed him rather than promote Thompkins. Strikes me as evidence they wanted him quite a bit.

Great! When do we play the Three Cones?

I think that they have safety concerns due to ill-fitting helmets.

Not only that but until BB put him on Matthews he was eating our lunch. He almost had a game ending interception at the end as well.

Garret Mills.

EDIT: It appears I may have misread your post. I thought you were asking who the Minny claimed, not the player NE did.

Yeah, that was when that Major Dad guy was trying to coach the Vikings. He kept trumpeting to the press how he had such a rivalry going on with Belichick. It was hilariously pathetic. I think he's selling used cars now.

I like Coleman. I think he would be a really good slot CB with the right coaching. I think Belichick is looking for players with natural ball skills and athletic upside but lack proper coaching and technique. Butler, Roberts, and Coleman all share those traits.

Browner was a really good physical corner. What he did to DT in that Denver game had a huge effect. He ruffed up and put Thomas on the ground at-least 10 times in the first quarter. By the second half, Thomas was exhausted which had a limiting effect on his overall production in the game. Thomas was not the only player BB used Browner for in this manner during the season.
This is why I would like to see the team sign or trade for a big bodied corner. Like a Sean Smith, or maybe sign Stanley Jean-Baptiste to the Practice squad. It can never hurt to carry a big Corner, even if its for the purpose of acting as a dummy for our WR's during practice.
