I'm happy to see we signed a CB. He seems athletic like Roberts. But in this highlight film....nothing here shows any coverage / man skills of any kind. All passes that were INT's were beyond terrible. Regardless he showed very good ball awareness...

Thats an upgrade over Logan Ryan. He never would have turned around to look for the ball.

Yeah, I wasn't impressed by that video either. I'd also love to see how he does in man coverage

I dont remember him knocking my socks off last year when watching the vols.

General consensus from players on the bubble: Cuts are out of their control. Can't worry about them. All about having a good practice.

Never understood the point of inviting players to a final practice, who are already likely to be cut. Are the coaches giving them a final chance to make the team?

Patriots offered Justin Coleman a spot on the practice sways, but I've been told he declined and signed a different offer, per source

Screw him....I'm looking forward to next season when Roberts gets to play

Professional courtesy. Treating players like they're still members of the team until they officially aren't is the honorable thing to do.

I really liked Coleman when evaluating him in the draft and would have liked the Pats to take him with a late pick. He's a very good special teams players and I think his best position in the pros maybe safety not corner. He did show flashes of being able to play bump and run so we'll have to wait and see. Good tackler and generally physical.

ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS
Plays an aggressive brand of football. Physical in press coverage. Saw more action in slot in 2014 to take advantage of tackling. Defeats block and launches into ball carrier with proper timing. Contain-oriented on the perimeter against run. Instinctive and comfortable in zone. Recognizes combinations and makes proper adjustments. Good ball skills -- 10 passes defensed and 4 interceptions in 2014. Played outside contain on kickoff coverage.
WEAKNESSES
Short and slightly undersized for run-supporting nickel. Struggles to consistently mirror and match when challenged on outside. Plus route runners will turn him around. A shade slow to transition on throws in front of him. Will give up separation on crossers and verticals. Gets to catch point a shade early and could see more flags in NFL. Average hips with questionable speed.
DRAFT PROJECTION
Round 5 or 6
BOTTOM LINE
Plays with energy and confidence and is a good finisher in run support. Has desired instincts and awareness in coverage, but lacks athleticism to match up against quicker targets in man coverage. Could be tough to cut based on toughness and ability to play on special teams.

From NFL.com

5-11, 185lbs at combine. Had a 6.61 3-cone and a 3.98 shuttle and ran a 4.53 forty.

Mike Loyko notes his similar athleticism to Darryl Roberts.

That's a solid write-up. You may recall my advocating a late rounder on Coleman in the draft forum. I think he could develop into a special teams stud and situational corner or safety. He's definitely physical and when he gets the jam solid but when he loses it he can get lost.

Shame we lost him to the Seahawks.

That's too bad. The team clearly needs corners on the Practice Squad. One injury and it's trouble.

However, as a developmental player, would you rather learn under the veteran leadership of Richard Sherman or Tarrell Brown? Sensible decision for that position.

To think we had Revis and Browner last season.
Revis was really good, but Browner was not good, he was cut because he did not play CB at a level that merited $5.5M. He graded out as the 75th best CB in the NFL and was good for 3 penalties per game. The team took a big loss when Revis walked but in my opinion it is better off without Browner.
