How awesome would it be, if come next season, our 3 starting corners were Butler, Roberts, & Coleman. Two UDFA and 7th round pick. I think ESPN would right an article saying Bill purposely had the players overlooked and somehow cheated to get them.

Sean smith in a Pats jersey would make me so happy but why would they ever trade him?

Because he's suspended for 3 games to start the season. He's in his contract year. Both Him and Eric berry will be Free agents next season, so its more then likely Berry will get the Franchise tag if needed. And they just drafted a very good #1 corner in Marcus Peters with their first round pick, and another physical outside corner with their 3rd round pick.

Ive said it several times, I think he would a great trade candidate for Mayo. MLB is their weak link in their front 7, and CB is our weak link. They also have very similar contracts.

Also you can't forget the Andy Reid - BB connection

Belichick loves Mayo he won't trade him.

Also, sending mayo to KC would be 10x more respectful then sending mankins to Tampa a year before he wins a SB

I prefer to get him into our system as soon as possible. It's interesting that he was the go to signing the minute they had a spot on the roster. For example, they signed him rather than promote Thompkins. Strikes me as evidence they wanted him quite a bit.
He has almost identical numbers as Roberts, thats shows me that they were really high on Roberts.
Have u noticed that they sign players who has similar measurements.
Like Fleming/Clausell, new PS Alex something/Morris, Roberts/Coleman

Who do u think will be in the slot?

The rule about him being on the 53 for at least three weeks is still intact, right?

If Roberts can take the entire season and next off season and sit down with the trainers, and get a real diet going to gain another 15 lbs, all while only losing around .5 on his 40 times, he would have elite corner measurable's and would be the teams best choice to match up with the bigger elite WR's in the league (Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant , Demaryius, Thomas, Mike Evans etc etc). His vertical leap and good ball skill's, combined with his makeup speed would be a great for matching and defending these type of WR's. I read that he came into marshall at 155lbs, which I don't know what to take as. Seeing that he benched 225 23 times at only 183lbs, it could be an indicator that his frame is close to being maxed out. Lets hope the professional trainers and nutritionist the Patriots have can gain a little more weight out of him

If Coleman can gain another 10 lbs of muscle, you have an almost perfect slot candidate. Seeing he has a fairly decent ability to play both press-man, and zone, combined with decent size and good change of direction ability, make him nicely suited to line up against the different variations of players teams like to line up in the slot (Small WR's, sometime bigger WR's, and even flex TE's. He too has great ball skills and very good instants, to go along with good makeup speed. This allows him to get in the front of crossing routes and disrupt passes. His best ability, which is his run defense and natural awareness are the icing on the cake for the slot position. Going off his Tennessee game tape, I think he should already be one of the teams best run defense CB's.

Now as far as Butler goes, he isn't going to get any better physically. According to reports, he worked very hard in the offseason, and is probably in about as good as shape as he's ever going to be in. We all know by now, Butlers pro day results & measurable's aren't a great indicator to his overall physical ability. We also know he has very good technique, combined with elite recovery ability, and about as good as it get's ball skills. This makes him the perfect player to cover the Antonio Browns, a OBJ's of the League. No matter how good you are, these types of WR's are eventually going to get separation. Having the ability to recover from mistakes while using your elite balls skills to just barley close the gap, then swatting down the passes, is the best, and sometimes only way to defend these types of players. Butler has come a long way, and I'm excited to see how he progresses as a player this year.

Now I know it may seem like I have really high hopes and dreams for these player, and almost may seem to overestimate their potential. All 3 of these corners have at least above average ball skills, and all seem to have a natural nack for the game and position. They also have very good physical attributes. The main beef and nack against these guys were the school's they attended. Given some time and proper coaching, I think these players can at the least be above average as an overall unit. It looks like were going to have a very good pass rush locked up for the next several years which should also help them slow into their role, and improve as players without needing to put all the weight on their shoulder immediately.

Will any of this happen? Who Knows! However I've never felt happier about the potential of our defense for the next few seasons.

Am I the only one who would rather see this kid on the field as opposed to Ryan tonight?
I know Ryan will be better scheme prepared but come on.
Also would still like to see a trade for a physical receiver or snatch Dez Lewis off the buff practice squad.
Serves two purposes one gives us a physical specimen to kick the tires on for a few weeks but also can tell us about the formations the Bills will no doubt surprise us with one or two plays we haven't yet seen.
Thoughts?

I am also high on Roberts and think he will only get better by being with the team and training staff for the year even though on ir. We may have lost our 1st next year, and considering he is lost to us this year maybe he will make up for that loss.

Agreed, this re-signing suggests the Pats really like him and wanted to make sure they got him.

I like the fact that Seattle is the team they are fighting with for Coleman's services. Seattle knows CBs.

That's a really good point. Good reason to get excited about the kid. Hopefully by mid-season he can start getting some good snaps in. How painful would it be if it was Seattle-NE in the SB again and Coleman made a big play?

We beat Seattle to Easley we beat them with Coleman and more important we beat them in the SUPERBOWL!

How gr8 would it be if the Pats beat Seattle in the Superbowl as Easley hits Wilson as he is throwing resulting in a game winning pick 6 by Coleman?

Then imagine ol' Smiling Roger Goodell handing Brady the Lombardi for a record 5th time.

The awesomeness would be off the charts.

also i think that Tarell Brown is underrated and he ll be very good this year
i think he played well today. He isnt afraid of tackling RB. In one play dEangelo run on the left and he tackles him. on the point conversion i ve noticed that he was on Wheaton, that was his first allowed completion and after that i think maybe one or two more. He was good.

Tarell Brown has some quality veteran #2 cb experience and he with Butler our new #1 cb weren't half bad.. I am feeling as the two of them gain more games together under their belts they well not only be growing individually but as a quality trusted backfield pair. As long as Bradley Fletcher stays off the field things are looking up! lol.
