Its actually a question I would like to ask Kraft. He apparently is an influential owner, close to Goodell, saved Goodell's job but somehow has gotten nothing but a tarnished reputation and penalties handed to his storied team in Goodell's reign. Where has Kraft's influence helped the Pats? Why can't he ever get some benefit of the doubt? What is he there for if not for defending his franchise and to fight tooth and nail. There is nothing worse than what's happening now and so far he has been stern but that's it. He needs to shout, scream and accuse the NFL for what it has done and the travesty that it has brought to his franchise. He has been an overall disappointment. At least make some friends of owners of other teams so that they can have his back as well. No one is on our corner and I blame a lot of that on Kraft.

The simple answer is that he has no influence over Goodell despite his constant sucking up in matters involving his team. The Fuhrer and his henchmen have an unshakeable bias towards helping their beloved Jets and bringing the Pats down to mediocrity. The fact that he proved he was a pushover in 2007 only increased their disrespect for him. To give Kraft his due, he is a respected businessman who has influence over financial matters for the League but it means zero when it comes to on field matters.

Patriots value has risen from $1.2 billion to $2.6 billion during Goodells reign (2006 to present).........with the biggest jump occurring in 2014 (+$800 million) after the Goodell negotiated labor contract.
The $$$$ are the respect

Actually Kraft was instrumental in negotiating the CBA. Goodell could screw up a free lunch.

I was thinking about something last night.

When Myra passed, Goody called Bob and asked for help during the CBA crisis. Bob helped him -in the middle of the Shiva.

Bob decided to go so he made the choice but man....hes gotta be thinking back if he made the right call.

Goodell knows what the other 31 owners want: the Pats to suck.

For doing business in the week of Shiva, he will be answering to a higher power than Goodell.

No kidding. My wife and her whole side of the family is Jewish. It's a big deal for the immediate family to scoot out for a little while.

I don't think Kraft is thinking that at all. A lockout would have hurt Kraft's wallet.

The only excuse for breaking Shiva prematurely especially for a spouse is a dire need to feed your family. Let Kraft explain that to the Higher Authority.

Sigh.........I think in his heart of hearts he thought that Myra would have been ok with him going. He thought that he was being a team player and was needed.

I hear what you are saying. I'm mad at Bob for lying down here but I'm just not at a place to think he'd disrespect his wife's memory over money.

I am not in this case in position to judge his motives. All I can say is that the highest accolade is to be called a Mensch and all the money in the world cannot buy it. A Mensch would not have done that.

Take a lesson from Godfather II about how to deal with someone abusing a position of power to try to hurt you. How Michael Corleone and Pat Hagan handled Pat Geary:

Two-fold: Goodell absolutely cannot show favor for a particular team, for good reason frankly. Now you could argue that he does this for the Jets and you'd be right, but some believe that simply because of the Goody-Kraft relationship he's been easy on the Pats (many believe he was easy on the Pats during cameraplacementgate, go figure).

Second, Kraft is one of 31, as others have said. He's a businessman and NFL owner first, loyal to the team second. I don't necessarily mind this in a generic sense, I'd rather the GM and coach be the undyingly loyal ones and the owner more removed from operations. But when the most transformative player in his teams history, who singlehandedly brought Kraft great fortune and tremendous power, is being raked through the coals Kraft has to show some loyalty. At least in my opinion. This hasn't fully played out, and maybe he's helping behind the scenes, but his latest press release is crap.

Goodell doesn't have anything against the pats. However, his underlings do. If they told Goodell about the sting operation, Goodell would have told Kraft. But Kensil kept it from him.

Kraft is in an abusive relationship and needs an intervention.

Goodell hired the hack lawyer to do a hatchet job, not Kensil.

I've recently read that Bob Kraft is one of only three owners who help to determine the salary of Roger Goodell every year.

One would think that this would have some power with it. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the case.
