Kraft's Response

your whole point is moot because Kraft revealed his strategy is to take it up the a$% like a punk b#$%&.

If he changes his strategy I will change my opinion.

right....because kraft and BB are on a different side of the CBA (from Brady)

the process is completely different for a player than it is for a front office guy........the 'out' in what he said is in regards to the penalties that will be handed down to the team itself (where there likely will be none or maybe $25K)....he's not in a position to speak for brady in any tangible way

Of course he is in a position to speak in defense of his QB.

He might not have an appeal process for penalties against his team but that does not mean he has to just to accept them and there are many things he could do like pointing out the hypocrisy of other similar instances.

spouting aimlessly does nothing

This is complete BS. If I worked for someone who did not have my back, I would not work for him for long. If you are trying to tell me that all of the 'love and friendship' that Kraft has spouted over the years is nothing more than mandated teamspeak them that is just more reason to tell Kraft to go pound sand. I would hope that TB has more honor and character than his employer if that is the case.

because you have no concept of the relationship between kraft and brady........yo udon't believe that everything comeing from kraft, bb, or brady isn't scripted and/or coordinated to work together? trust me, they're all on the same page

most of you have little concept of strategy

the most basic of factors is the fact that nothing has happened yet........in this instance, it is best to say little or nothing or to say nothing that is definitive.

The onus here is on Goodell to make a definitive move now. and believe me, he must have great concern about the the potential repercussions if someone like Brady puts up a fight. Fir what it is, at this point, what Goodell needs most is to have this end with a minimum of overall damage. There can be no guillotine for ball tampering by a player who is one of the sports biggest stars and who has an otherwise spotless record. killing a cash cow angel is bad for business though I think goodell is egomaniacal enough to proceed with it.

There is no point in firing verbal volleys until the punishment is handed down.........Goodell's goal needs to be what he thinks is the maximum punishment he can hand down without causing a fight (I think the organizations involved would move on if it was a $25K fine and that's it)

Otherwise, there will come the process that will tear the report apart page by page, wells limb from limb, then goodell, the colts, kensil........Brady would be in a perfect situation to have lawyers literally do a 'shermans march to the sea' with all these characters and really making them wish they never got involved........there is THAT much stupidity linked to this whole thing
So the goal of your strategy is to allow the character assassination of Brady if he can get a small fine? Very kind of you to sacrifice others like that. Brady is set for life and doesn't get a damn thing whether the team wins or loses. His reputation is the tangible benefit he gets from football.

I don't disagree here but Kraft didn't take this strategy he instead said he would accept what the NFL does and if this turns out to be how he acts then he will find many like me upset with him. If he steps up for Tom when the time comes I will immediately change my opinion.

Like Spygate? It's amazing that your are so clairvoyant.

Does a thread need to be started for every single thought? This has been covered many times and there is a Bob Kraft thread right above this one.

In my experience trying to tell people not to make a ton of the same threads for the same topic will just get you yelled at.

If Tom gets suspended (especially for 6-8 games!), Kraft had best come out with a strong rebuke in defense of his QB knowing full well what a sham this is.

If he pulls another one of those "I'm disappointed with the decision" statements it will further go to show how sackless he is.

Dispute the report.
Shout from the rooftops that Tom Brady did nothing wrong.
State that the evidence in the report is tainted, speculative and just wrong, and announce publicly that he expects their will be no punishment as a result of this weak investigation, and will support Brady, Belichick or anyone else in their efforts to challenge any punishment up to and including in court.
That would be a good start.
Great post. Kraft or anyone else that has employees needs to stick up for them, especially employees that have done so much for the organization such as TB. I always try to look at things objectively and i really do feel that the pats have been singled out for what ever reason. If the same thing happened in lets say tenn, or jacksonville we would hardly hear a word about it. But for some reason when its the pats the most minor infraction is treated like a major offense. What TB is accused of doing is akin to J-walking but its being treated like murder.

Kraft has a choice to make. Goodell or Brady.
I hope that if he makes the wrong one it cost him Brady and a few million fans.

I believe Kraft made quite a strong statement defending Brady, what else is he supposed to do?

I'm not sure the first thing he needed to say was to give a blank check for punishment to the NFL

That wasn't the first thing he said.. The first thing he said is that he disagrees with the report..

Chasa, ironically enough that Kraft thread I was referring to and originally posting in got merged with this Kraft Response thread.

I guess the mods agreed with me.

Part of it is unfortunately Kraft really can't do anything when it comes punishment as it is against the NFL's constitution for him or the team to appeal if the NFL comes down with punishment. However Brady can fight it and who's to say that while Kraft can't publicly do anything about it he could be helping Brady in another way? From my point of view Kraft has twice publicly defended his QB, once at the SuperBowl and then again in his statement but that's about all he has the power to do in this instance. I think Brady understands that and even mentioned Kraft's statement during his public appearance last night. Of course I would love for him to come out and say "FU Goddell you Jets scumbag" but that's just not practical and I'd prefer a much more measured approach to this than just shooting from the hip. Just my .02
If he really feels that this is an in-just shame that is aimed at denigrating his team and its players he at least needs to threaten to break with the NFL constitution by threatening legal action. If you feel a constitution is un-fairly applied why just accept the punishment. Ive seen other teams get away with an awful lot and not heard a peep out goodell over the last six or seven years. And it will continue until Bob or Jonathan Kraft just accept it without a fight. Nothing was proven in this report, its just a lot of innuendo and rumors, so why should the owner of the team lay down and take it?

Kraft has a responsibility to stick up for his organization, its players and its fans.

Look, it's up to Brady to stick up for himself. Most guys stop relying on their fathers to protect them while they're in their early teens. Kraft has, and will, do what he can, but the rest is up to the accused.
