Worth noting the Pats have about 11M left in cap space. After signing rookies and setting some aside for emergency that is about 6M to play with.

I would be willing to use it anywhere really. CB be best but if no one is there then what can you do?
Any unused cap money will be move into 2016 when Solder is a free agent. Also the team would like to sign long-term contracts with Hightower, Jones and Collins.

This is UDFA week.

Next week, we will likely sign some free agents.

RB, OG and LB seem most likely.

Do you think that Belichick might find free agent upgrades over any of these players? I have all of them on the opening 53 as of now.

I feel like they will keep one of Gray or Gaffney but not necessarily both. Maybe they both stay for Week 1 while Blount is out and they duke it out to determine who gets to be the RB2. My RB depth chart would be Blount, Gray/Gaffney, Cadet/White, Develin (hoping to move one of the two losers of the RB positional battles to the PS)

Wouldn't mind a Pierre Thomas signing either.

James Jones got cut by the Raiders...any interest? I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on him but I bet he gets a better offer.

My opinion is: learn from the AH situation. Don't allow yourself to be paralyzed by it.

Take what you've learned, do more than your fair share of diligence. Investigate the kid. Make a decision.

I'm just hoping that if Collins is innocent, we're the ones that get him.

A nuanced point of view such as this has no place on ESPN etc. Therefore there is no realistic way for the Patriots to get Collins without some boneheaded "Kraft/Belichickian Arrogance" pieces being rushed to headlines.

I think the Patriots will probably lie low on this one, despite the fact that it could potentially be a boon to the on field aspect of the franchise (which invariably goes against 100% of what Belichick says about his motivations for decisionmaking)... so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wouldn't mind having Reggie Wayne on a 1 year deal.

He's like 75 years old and wouldn't start over lafell, edelman or amendola at this point

I could agree with you, but what is triggering my spider senses more is not the murder investigation, but his willingness to give ultimatums to the entire NFL and warn them not to draft him later than the third. Seems like the potential of a primadonna and like he might be the kind of player to hold out on a contract in any given year.

I do feel a little better about this now that I hear he's willing to sign as a UDFA/UFA. But if I were the Patriots this is a part of his personality I'd want some reassurances about.

I don't really hold that against him. . Before the whole having to interview with police about a murder, he was most likely going to be a 1st round pick.. but then that whole story destroyed his value.. so if he knows he's innocent and just needs proper time to clear his name, his agent wanted to protect his value and have him go into next years draft instead.

Looks like his agent didn't know the rules all that well though. . But imagine how incredibly frustrated you'd be if you knew you were innocent and about to start your young, promising and lucrative career after all that hard work and sacrifice in college... only to have an ill timed event like that happen and blow it all up

He's got no choice now but to sign as an UDFA. If he's innocent of any wrongdoing, I really feel bad for the kid..

It's not like their viewpoint will change if the Pats don't sign him.

What the anti-Pats biased media will say or think should have no impact on what the Pats do.

SEA didn't pick up the 5th year option on Irvin? Doubtful he comes here but hes good.

I'd look for another veteran CB and another 3rd down back. I'm not sold on Cadet and we just cut Dennard. There is room for competition at those spots.

The most likely move will be to re-sign Connolly.

Sign me up for Ahmad Bradshaw on May 13th. He can still play if he gets healthy, he has very little wear and tear from PLAYING the last 2 years but well ...thats because he missed most of them.

Everyone can get healthy again, we saw it with both Dola and Edelman after years plagued by injuries. Bradshaw is the best runner still out there and he's a better receiver than anyone in our backfield.

If our Guard positions are improved like we all believe/hope they are then a 1-2 punch of Blount/Bradshaw would be reminiscent of the Jacobs/Bradshaw days with the Giants, add a top 3 passing game to take more pressure off the OL and our running game has potential to be very good behind a revamped interior OL. ...God I hope Mason can unseat Wendell, his run blocking is so nasty in the best way.

He's still under contract for this season, the 5th year options are picked up a year in advance, and last I heard they plan to work an extension out, probably for Whitney Mercilus type money as they figure the option price was too steep, good but not great player.

Yes...as was the case with Chandler and HT.

By not picking it up could indicate that they want to trade him.

From his tweet, Irvin seemed pretty peeved.

Ah, I missed his tweet. They're a team that relies very heavily on rotation, I can't see them trading a key piece in keeping their guys fresh, and I could be mistaken but I do remember seeing they want to extend him, talks of that should calm a player down.

Their front fell apart when they lost Avril in the SB and it was less effective as a whole last season compared to 2013 when they lost 2 or 3 key DL rotational pieces to FA.

SEA will let players walk if the price is not right. - especially if Wilson breaks the bank.

Irvin was a big part of that D. Something must have happened during negotiations or they don't see how their 2016 cap can work if they pay him mucho dinero.

I can only imagine the breadth of football insight he could impart on Edelman, LaFell and Dobson. IMO it would be well worth a cheap veteran deal for a year and carving out a spot for him even if only for him to mentor.

Love Wayne as a player but he's toast IMO.

Yeah, had he not chose to stay home (and you can't fault him for that) in 2012 he'd have another ring though, I bet thoughts like that really eat at someone.

I can't see him beating out Amendola for a spot though and the 4/5 spots should be promising young players who will grow, not veteran depth who will offer nothing in the future.

Edelman and LaFell already know how to be pros, they've been around longer than the average career now, I don't think they need the guidance or insight (not that it wouldn't help), but I feel they're at the point of their careers where they are now capable of taking someone under their wing, not needing to be taken under someone elses themselves.

Of the three Gray is the only one I have making the roster, I think Jackson and Mason replace Kline and Devey.
