I started watching football with my father when I was 5 years old. I love the game, but this is the first time in my life that I don't look forward to the new season. I am sick of the NFL. I'm sick of their rules, and propaganda. If the Pats are punished in any way for this crap, without evidence, I don't think that I can continue to watch this sport. It is becoming to damn stressful. We Patriot Fans WILL NEVER BE ALLOWED TO WATCH OUR TEAM PLAY IN PEACE, UNTIL they become an under five hundred team. This league hates the success this franchise has. They absolutely hate it. They change rules to hurt them, they make up crap to tarnish their reputation. What's next? I just can't stand it anymore. It's to STRESSFUL.
The Pats have done what no team was supposed to do after 1993/94 (beginning of the Cap/FA era).
Everyone was supposed to dwell in a zone of generalized mediocrity with occasional intervals of success by well run franchises (like the Steelers, Ravens and Giants).
But no one was supposed to go to nine AFCCG's and six SB's in 14 years and win four of them. Nope. Wasn't supposed to happen.
Without the Pats' success, coaches could have told GM's who could have told owners who could have told their fans and the media that no one could hope to do more than get to a rare conference championship game and, even more rarely, to an SB.
So, what did they all do? Resorted to the oldest excuse in the books to explain away the Pats success: "They cheated." And, of course, players, coaches, owners, mediots and the NFL itself were all too willing to join the chorus.
We just have to live with this. My guess is that a decade or more from now, when people look back on this era, they will see all of this for what it really was: jealousy and resentment, pure and simple. But, for now, there's very little we can do about it.
When I first moved to NYC, where I now live, I used to marvel at how Yankee's fans seemed to love it that people outside New York hated their team. They were better and they knew it. Their history was better and they knew it. And, they simply reveled in the resentment and wore it as a badge of honor.
Now, I understand. I've embraced the hate and, when they say something predictable about the Patriots (the "cheatriots" or whatever), I now just ask my friends who are fans of the Jets or other mediocre or crappy teams: "Is that they best you can do? Bring it on. You're just jealous and you know it."
