Do you imagine TB gloating when he hangs it up? I don't think so... I just find it hypocritical to be alright with one guy being egotistical but if another guy with nearly as many accomplishments does, he's a jerk.

As for greatest football player ever, I find that a huge insult to everybody whose not a WR/RB/QB. Not taking anything away from Rice, but greatest WR isn't enough, he needs to be considered the best football player period? GFY.

Moss was one-of-a-kind gifted, but lazy. He spoiled Tom and then on biggest stage (plus other times) didn't fight for balls or give 100% on his routes.

It's not a surprise to me that he won a sb and had greatest 4q comeback ever in sb throwing short to the OPEN MAN rather than going for broke on a moss type heave.

That's generally my thought as well. The only thing that Rice has over Moss is the length of his career... I don't see people seriously arguing that Brett Favre is a better QB than Montana, Elway, Brady, etc. Moss terrified the league for a stretch of 10+ years like no WR had ever done before and it really wasn't close. I've even heard people use Rice's work ethic as an excuse, as if Moss didn't have an unbelievable work ethic himself (he did). To me it's 1 and 1a with Rice and Moss. Nothing wrong with that.

You clearly didn't re-watch Superbowl 42. Moss was consistently getting open, Brady never had the time to find him though due to the horrible breakdown of the OL. Of course, Moss was the one who caught what could have been the game-winning TD. I also seem to remember Brady JUST missing Moss on a Fly route at the end of the game. Another foot or two of air on that ball and Moss would have hauled that in and that game has a completely different ending. The whole "he gives up on plays" is total garbage. As is the "he doesn't fight for balls". It couldn't be further from the truth. When the ball is up for grabs, Moss is almost guaranteed to come down with it. Only towards the end of his career, against the likes of guys like Revis, did he ever let a ball (thrown up for grabs into double or triple coverage) get picked off.

I'll always default to JR when talking about the GOAT Football player. Granted this stickygate thing isnt helping. Brown, Taylor are other guys I would consider. JR also had Montana and Young throwing him the ball.

I will say Moss was easily the most physical dominating player who ever played the game. I can see the argument Moss was "better" though. He did have a good work ethic but kinda a crappy attitude.

Moss was one of those players that just took your breath away. He was so gifted, unnaturally gifted. The only one football player I could compare him to that I've watched was Barry Sanders. Before you bring up all of Sanders plays for losses look at his incredible carries he turned out of nothing behind a somewhat decent oline.

Those two players are the ones you had to second guess what you just watched. Quite a few "no f'n way moments."

Imagine Moss if he had Brady his whole career like Rice had Montana/Young? Combined with Rice's insane workout ethic. Moss had a lot of growing up to do from Minnesota and Oakland. He really did seem to turn the corner when he got here and for whatever reason reverted to old Randy. I'm sure it's something he might or does regret. Still, best season ever for a WR, too bad 08 happened. Think he had another shot at that ring. Still a first ballot hall of famer.
