Mediatanic coming to an end.

Wait 'til Tuesday, Frodo. Wait 'til Tuesday.

THAT will be a circus of unbelievable proportions. Good thing it lasts only 90 minutes.

Source said if the Patriots are guilty of deflating, then they're likely using a "scientific" method. Too risky to deflate on sideline

    Doug Kyed ?@DougKyedNESN 28 minHace 28 minutos

Talked to a league source today that said if the NFL checks every team, then they'll find "several" teams are guilty of deflating.

That may have been true before Sunday, but they won't be deflating any more. That won't stop them from pointing fingers at the cheating Pats.

Is there a reason why the Pro Bowl SHOULD get good ratings?

It is Andy Dalton against Matthew Stafford right?

I wouldn't watch a "fantasy football game for real" between Michael Irvin's team and Chris Carter's team if you held a gun to my head.

I'd say, "just shoot me now...."

John Harbaugh wears mom jeans ... he's a whiny ass.

Is there a sauna in gillette stadium? rich people........

I have a sauna in my home. Costs less than some big screen tvs.

Assuming that BillB and TomB has no involvement in having the footballs deflated to ~10.5PSI. This includes instructing someone to do it or even suggesting that the footballs would be better if it was below 12.5PSI to someone. Also, assume that the game-day weather had zero effect on the footballs.

There is approximately 2hrs-15mins after the referees OK'd them till the game.

During that timeframe, exactly where were these footballs, who had access to them? How come the 12-backup footballs were all legal PSIs?

What did the balls know and when did they know it?

We're going to have to agree to disagree here on part of this, Tune.

Had Irsay not gone nuclear immediately by getting it to the public, Goodell would have WANTED to wrap this up quietly and quickly via the science route.

However, you are right, because he isn't Rozelle or Taglabue , he already has the Rice and Petersen screw-ups on his public resume just this year and cannot afford to be seen as sweeping another hot button (but stupid) issue under the rug again.

His hand was forced by his own previous screw-ups and Irsay took full advantage of it. He (and the rest of the owners) probably want to moider tha bastid.
Here's my point: Goodell needlessly gave the media hysteria credence by announcing this wide-ranging investigation (40 freaking interviews and a forensic detective?) like they had uncovered a domestic terrorist cell. This fanned the (already unnecessary) flames by overreacting to the overreaction! He could've taken a much more subdued and calming approach in reasonable proportion to the alleged offense. Something a la, "Yes, in this season as well as seasons past, the issue of minor football manipulation has arisen from time to time. We'll look into this particular case, and others, with an eye toward possibly adjusting procedures going into next season. While disconcerting to us, we don't feel it led to any competitive advantage or disadvantage in the game involved."

Instead, we have a MAJOR SCANDAL being investigated by FORENSIC SPECIALISTS because THE INTEGRITY OF OUR GAME IS AT STAKE. This silliness has led national news broadcasts where millions of people who never watch football now know the New England Patriots as EVIL CHEATERS.

Goodell needs to be fired. He should've been fired months ago.

I 100% agree.

Much as it is unpopular to say here - - Goodell had no choice in this matter. His hand was publicly forced by Irsay bypassing the league and going straight to the media (Kravitz) within minutes of the Colts complaint.

Think about that for a moment.

Once again - - within MINUTES of the complaint, Irsay went straight to the media to disseminate this.

I disagree completely. Rozelle would have called Irsay and whoever into his office and slammed their heads together like the three stooges, then put out some sort of neutral press release for the afternoon edition. You would never have some bush league picayune story detract from the highlight of the season. Tagliabue knew how to lead a sports league with discretion too.

He should have been fired before he was hired. I don't think he was in 2 weeks before i knew it was a mistake, but I can't be sure of my memory.

this was out of control before Goodell woke up Monday AM. he had no choice but to say a serious investigation would take place.

Goodell is a hapless buffoon and you give him way too much credit. He has caused every on and off field situation, or cause it to be worse. If he did nothing and merely picked up his zillion dollar check, the league would have run itself better than it ran under him.

Yeah, I don't get the posters who want to get Irsay off the hook as the driving villain in this.

What he did is UNHEARD of in the NFL owner's group. He is now persona non grata. You do not bypass the commissioner on something like this and go straight to the press especially before the Super Bowl. That is the NFL equivalent of throwing a hand grenade into a shopping mall.

He IS a hapless buffoon.

And a drunken arsonist took advantage of his weakened state.

Don't let the drunken arsonist off the hook as the central driving force in this debacle.
