ESPN: 11 of 12 footballs under inflated by 2 pounds of air.

Its over.

Goodell is going to rip the Pats a new one.
I see this going all the way to court if that's the case. The Patriots better fight these allegations tooth & nail if there isn't any concrete evidence of them deflating footballs.

this is not the punching of a wife or the beating of a child. they will say impact was minimal and that the process failed to pick up on the problem.....no different than a blown call

That's the rational response.

However, here is a detailed breakdown of Goodell's decision making process:

So, you never know.

What hammer is there to drop? Doesn't the rulebook suggest a 25K fine for this offense?

If Goodell does overblow this thing even further and come out with some outrageous punishment, then I will have to revisit my assumption that his decision-making is unbiased but simply stupid.

Its BBs 2nd go round.

Would not be shocked in BB is suspended for the Super Bowl.

the NFL is a business.....do you really think suspening BB and potentially loosing billions in revenue would be worth it?

Its over.

Goodell is going to rip the Pats a new one.

You must be forgetting that Kraft inexplicably came to Goodell's defense regarding the Ray Rice scandal. He owes the "Master Kraftsman" one.

PS. Tomlin got fined $100K for deliberately walking on to the field and impeding the progress on the Ravens kick returner. no draft picks were taken. Do you really think this is worse than that?

Am I on a Packers forum? Did the Packers just recently go through a year long cheating scandal in which they lost a draft pick - the most highly publicized cheating scandal in NFL history?

Given the history, why even do it? They're only bringing it on themselves.
You have no evidence that they "did it" in the first place. There is literally NO evidence that any wrongdoing was committed by Belichick or anyone who works for the Patriots. There were some underinflated balls. That proves what, exactly? Absolutely nothing.

Maybe fixing the pressure explains why we did so much better in the second half.

This psi-gate crap is ruining what should be a great week. Never thought I'd say it, but if it turns out to be purposeful breaking of the rules by our side, I will have to do some real soul searching (I am not a fair weather fan, I was born a Pats fan, since 1970).

Hoping it turns out to be nothing, but emotionally this is too much for me I am not thick skinned I take all this stuff personally and get really pissed off. I am on media blackout until next Monday.

To those with thicker skin that me: enjoy what should be a joyous week for us!

I am astounded that many people do not realize that unfortunately in life perception often trumps truth.Even if impact was zero people will wonder what else the Pats were doing, and i also find it hard to believe it was someone freelancing without Bill's knowledge. I don't care if everyone else was doing it because we were different because of spy gate, and had to toe the line to a t. This does a disservice to players and fans who should not have to be dealing with these allegations. Honestly i am thinking Bill has to go after this incident.

My unscientific results are in. In 1 hour the psi of my ball dropped ~ 2 psi.

The logical approach to determine wrong-doing and any punishment to be given... which pretty much ensures it won't be used by Goodell...

1 - Does anyone admit to tampering with the balls? Yes? Stiff punishment for all involved. Fines and draft picks. No? Move to #2
2 - Did the officials check and record the pressure pre-game? No? All over, nothing to see here. Yes? Move to #3
3 - What was the PSI of the Colts balls? Also under-inflated? All over, nothing to see here. League conducts offseason research on temperature effects on PSI. Didn't check the Colts balls too?? Go to #4
4 - Conduct research NOW into temperature effects on PSI. Dole out punishment according to results. If temp has minimal to no effect, then fine relevant parties based on assumption that something was tampered with. Has same effect as what was discovered? No punishment.

In ALL CASES the league must re-examines handling of game balls in off-season.

Be on the look out Herr Goodell may have sent a squad your way to quiet you.

Because the science doesn't lie. Of course the Pats could've tampered with the ball, but i doubt it. 11 balls all perfectly at the same PSI? Yea, don't think so. It was either the weather, or the refs didn't check the ball because we have a HOF QB that they give the benefit to. Then once the Colts raise stink the refs have no choice but to check and determine they are low so they fill em.

Maybe it was actually the colts who sabotaged the balls, as a setup. This actually dragged down the pats play until it was corrected in half time.. what a twist!!!! /m.knight.shamallian

we have to PRAY that the refs didn't check the balls before the game. P-R-A-Y

This Superbowl is already ruined, won't be watching.

This wins stupidest story of the year. People hate the Patriots because we're so good and people are jealous of Boston because the have to live in their ****ty city

What does people hating the patriots have to do with the balls being deflated tho?

I love how people are going bonkers over this...it drives our fan base nuts as much as it sours others.

We'll be good man, the process is flawed and will need to be fixed, Roger Dodger will do this after the season. I don't care how much BSPN and their haters are piling on I choose to believe that NE followed the rules as they are documented and I choose to believe they complied with said rules.

We all know TFB likes deflated balls....no biggie..just like Rodgers likes inflated balls...no biggie.

The shield is taking a hit and the owners are disappointed over this which means their employee. Roger Dodger, is taking a hit over this.
