Aaron Dobson

Chalk one up for Reiss. Now if he can just get on the field and contribute Sun...

So that means he's just sucking in practice? WTF.

So instead he was benched because he's not good enough to crack the game day lineup. Great -- he's experiencing the Patriots famous 2nd year right of passage -- 'I've lost all my talent and will never get it back'

Or he is coming back from foot surgery.

Jeez, let's go overboard. Maybe we should cut Gronk because he clearly is no longer elite and just an average TE at best. Have you watched him this year? He sucks.

The guy had major foot surgery. Why are people ignoring this?

Belichick said today there is a difference between being in shape and in football shape when talking about Browner and Tyms. Why isn't this the case with Dobson. He is healthy enough to practice but hasn't regained that extra gear or confidence in planting the foot to cut.

STATEMENT FROM PATRIOTS HEAD COACH BILL BELICHICK
"In my year and a half with Aaron Dobson, he has always been respectful to me and to the rest of the coaching staff. He has never once been argumentative or confrontational. The suggestion and reporting that his playing time was in any way the result of a ‘loud disagreement’ with a coach is completely false."

Nothing about banging McDaniel's wife. Aha!

Guess he's worse than Danny "No Catches" Amendola...............this is terrifying

Well he had time on Monday at times yet they decided to have 5 RB and 3 WR active. While the two deep threats were in street clothes. And it was really 2 WR because Amendola is basically useless right now.

Neither Dobson nor Thompkins is a true deep threat.

I kept this in mind a few weeks ago when wondering about Dobson. But he hasn't been on the injury report. And they started him against the Vikings. Perhaps that was a mistake

Dobson may not be, but he hasn't been given the time or chance to potentially develop into one because he certainly has all the measureables.

I followed the Vikings closely for Favre's last year. This team is getting to that level minus the injuries.

So much disfunction, OLine is ****, no deep threat, defense underperforming

But just because he isn't getting that extra gear and rounding his routes doesn't mean he needs to be on the injury report. Vollmer clearly looks like he isn't fully recovered from the injury last year, but he hasn't been on the injury report either. The thing is a RT can play through a less than 100% leg, but a speed WR cannot play through a less than 100% foot.

Deep threats are overrate unless you have an elite one. Dobson can stretch the field and he was a threat outside and intermediate routes last year. Dobson is clearly fast enough to be a deep threat and he was able to get separation last year,

For this particular offense they kind of are. Maybe not the traditional deep threat but they are definitely an outside threat which is what the team needs

What will Felger talk about this afternoon...

Well, it's good Dobson didn't mouth off. However, it looks like our mediocre WR trio isn't changing anytime soon:

1. Edelman
2. A WR3 trying to be a full time WR2
3. The worst WR based on snaps to production in the NFL.

For this particular offense they are

No, they're not. Any NFL level receiver can run a deep route and be a 'threat' in that sense. That's not what people mean when they talk about true deep threats. Right now, Dobson's a middle-deep guy. Dobson's Brandon Lloyd, not Randy Moss, and Thomkins is Gaffney.

There's nothing wrong with that, but that's what they are.
