Says Hoyer needs to start the first few game - he already knows what to do as an NFL QB. Goes on to state Manziel will be their QB, BUT the system is far more complicated than in college. Start Manziel the first game against teams like Pittsburgh, the Browns will quickly be in the cellar and everybody will pile on the dumb stuff Manziel has done. Article thinks Manziel will be good, just don't start him right away...time will tell if that faith is justified.

Haslam has a little bit of Jerry Jones in his personality, and that's not necessarily a good thing. Ownership should never have a say in who starts, because there is no way it has as much information as the coaches. But make no mistake: Haslam will have a significant say no matter how much the Browns want to publicly deny it.

After watching that game, thank god we have TB.

I think this was a good game for Johny, it was his welcome to the NFL moment. Hopefully this pushes him in a positive manner. As for the finger, it was immature, but at least he has a fighting spirit. It's probably best that he sits and learns a bit. He is a polarizing figure, but exciting to watch. I personally think that he can play, but not in year 1, he has to dominate practice first and let the pro game slow down. The worst thing he can do is play early and become RGIII. RGIII got hit like 5 times in a preseason game, that's pretty bad.

I wouldn't call this a horrible life decision. Maybe career and publicity decision but he is still earning his rookie 1st round paycheck which is pretty high. his life is fine

Im not saying that giving the finger is what pushed him over the dik cliff, hes been a dik since the jump off. Rolling up Hundred dollar bills, and doing his $$$ thing in people's faces makes me think the dude makes poor life decisions.

ALL Qbs are targets, he is just making his own target bigger. Chalk that up to another poor life decision. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks Johnathan Football's road is gunna be tough and paved with challenges of his own creation.

Chandler Jones' decapitation isn't literal, its figurative. We both know that. Come on?

And add up photos of rolling bills in the mens room and giving a finger while NFL cameras are rolling and you could conceivably cost yourself a few million off the ceiling of what teams might have been willing to pay you.

Advertisers and sponsors also tend to pay less for chip on the shoulder rich boy images.

But then again, after a certain point once you have a certain amount of money whats the fun of having it you cant say f-u once in a while.

Or, we can all just agree that none of this crap matters and that we shouldn't get upset over football players getting heated on the field.

As a general principle, I'd agree with that and honestly never have anything to say about a lot of the stuff that goes on when players in the NFL or any sport really are in the heat of battle. It's an intense environment and they're not auditioning for the church choir.

But, I think that Manziel has gone out of his way to call attention to himself off the field by acting like a jerk (as TB implied at one point), so I guess my position comes down to something like, I think he should be a bit more careful than the average player about how he acts on the field. He's already created an impression. For all I know, he just wants to live up to it, but I don't think it's doing him or his teammates any good.

Is that fair or even internally consistent? Probably not, but it's what I think and consistency ain't all it's cracked up to be.

I passively enjoy seeing (or would, hypothetically lol) the Browns do well, and I'd like to see Manziel do well there solely because he was an entertaining football player in college, and it would be cool to see him do that in the NFL for awhile.

The finger thing wouldn't be that big a deal if he was, say, in his fourth year and had actually done something. But he isn't. He's a rookie who frankly has been pretty mediocre and has a history of pretty high order douchebaggery.
