Patriots Sign WR Brandon LaFell to 3-year contract

Does he have an indoor lacrosse game at the Y?
Saturday is Quidditch night. Hard to tell when he'll be done. That snitch can be awfully tricky sometimes.

I think Sanders is the better WR, but he would have been redundant now that Edelman is back. LaFell adds some size that was otherwise missing. It's a projection pick for the Pats. He was primarily a slot guy in Carolina, and he won't do that in NE. We'll see how that works out.

Although the definition of "dropped pass" is inexact, the link I posted earlier says he had 6 last year and 3 the year before.

So that's 9 in two years, hardly 1 or 2 a game.
PFF has him for 8 drops - two more. Again, below average but not as bad as being made out.

Scratches head...is Dobson hurt worse than we think?

We're not going to get any of the 3 kids on the practice squad. Cut, they'll get gobbled up in a heartbeat.

So Edelman, Amendola, Lafell, Dobson, ?

I don't know. The money's getting tight. I'd have felt a lot better if they had spent that money on Evan Dietrich-Smith instead. I just don't see this as a big upgrade for the $$$.

But then, I don't know much about Lafell.

And of course Florio has to take his jab at the Patriots in his report of the signing:

While the Patriots may not have a high amount of quality at the decision, it looks like they’ve got the quantity thing covered.

Report: Pats agree to terms with Brandon LaFell | ProFootballTalk

Not his worst, but if it was another team he might have spun it as LaFell is steal in some way. Granted he may be a bit drunk since he can't tell the difference between "position" and "decision".

Unless they botched the surgery, Dobson can't be hurt any worse than we thought at this point. Too soon after the surgery.

Remember the Pats came into camp last year with three or four WR free agent signings that didn't make the final 53 man roster. I think this is business as usual for the Pats.

They'll carry more than four WRs, so what's the problem.

Dobson just got his foot operated on, he could come back and have a season like Edelman,or he could need some time. Edelman had a setback that put him in a walking boot last August.

I'm wrong a lot.

Why don't you go cry in the corner just because the numbers don't match what you said.

You just adjusted your credited numbers. I don't need to cry, you showed enough. thanks bud. Like I said, I watch the games, you google stuff. Big difference no?

I have a feeling you have to google how to make toast.

One said 6, one said 8.

You said 1-2 per game.

:bricks:

Kinda surprising to see this team shell out 3+ a year, for a sub par #2 WR who's previous team which has no WR's at all just let him walk.

Don't like this one at all.

Guess better safe than sorry. Late last year, we were in dire need of WRs, as ours rookies were dropping like flies, to the point we signed Collie (concussions).

Yeah, but Jenkins was signed for 1 yr, $666,667.

Jones was signed for 3 yrs, 3.7m.

Hawkins was signed for 1 yr., $715,000.

This isn't a camp fodder signing unless that contract has an ejector seat.

Could be very minimal guaranteed dollars, I still think he makes the roster. I'm not delusional and think he's a great receiver, but he can thrive in our system and give us his 600+ yard average as a 4th receiver behind Edleman, Amendola, and Dobson.

Really no need to show up and start being belligerent.

Apparently you know how much guaranteed money we've given LeFell. I don't. I would be shocked if we guaranteeing $3+M for 2014.
