Report (Unconfirmed) - Patriots sign Brandon Browner

possibly awesome!

must be the old sign and physical technicality issue with the agent....

Ian Rapoport ?@RapSheet 33s
Brandon Browner has spread the word to those close to him that he has agreed with the #Patriots. Thus, my report that he has agreed.

err...

I'll take Rap's word, Browner's agent probably isn't a reliable source of information

re: Report - Patriots sign Brandon Browner to two year deal?

Similar to last night when there were reports that Revis was coming here, but then new reports saying he wasn't coming here.

Maybe Browner wants to come here but the agent is trying to squeeze every last penny out of the team and doesn't want Browner to commit yet, still using the other teams as leverage to see what they will offer.

Revis's agent did the same thing. It's like a real estate agent they don't take the house off the market until the purchase and sale is signed and a deposit is in hand.

If other teams move on and then the deal falls through the agents job becomes a lot harder.

Please get this done.
We have the cap room now I think we can go as high as 4 mill a year here.

I have been anticipating this potential signing all day. I would be delighted. A big, talented DB? Hellz yeah!

Browner's agent, Peter Schaffer: "I can assure you we do not have a deal." Doesn't mean it won't happen. As of now, though, it hasn't.

Just cause the agent says no means nothing. Agents also wait until the ink is dry generally. Ian Rapoport rarely gets things wrong. Also this move just makes too much sense.

Hmmmm ... Rap had some premature ejaculation.

I think they are both right, the deal hasn't been signed so Schefter is technically correct, but the word is out among those close to Browner and he is coming to the Patriots. Belichick is looking to shut teams down, i love it.

I wonder if Sherman is the person close to him he told.

Agent blasts report of Browner deal in New England | ProFootballTalk

Just as the evening was beginning to slow down, it has picked up. In a big way.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported via Twitter that the Patriots agreed to terms with free-agent cornerback Brandon Browner. Browner’s agent begs to differ.

“It’s 100 percent untrue,” agent Peter Schaffer told PFT by phone, moments after the report landed on Twitter. “I’ve got four teams to negotiate with. I’ve got irresponsible journalists who don’t check their facts putting this stuff out there, and my phone is blowing up when I’m trying to play hockey.”

Schaffer plays in an adult hockey league in Denver.

“I’ve got very little patience for irresponsible journalists who put this stuff out and ruin my night,” Schaffer said. “My phone is going nuts. I just wanna play hockey.”

All Browner wants to do is play football. Schaffer has made it clear that Browner has not yet picked a team, in one of the most colorful ways we can recall.

A Patriot defense of old?

I'm going to cry. :sniff:

Very well could be. Browner would be huge. Shame we'll have to wait til week 5 to see him in action if he does sign.

back to the old early 2000's Patriots - bone crunching defense....ceiling painting will be going on all over NE if this report is true...

It sounds like pats are front runners. But no deal? Confusing

Looking into terms on the Browner deal ... As @RapSheet said here, two years for him in New England.

Agent Peter Schaffer said Raiders, Saints, Redskins still in running for Browner. As @RapSheet said, Browner told teammates he's got a deal.

Sounds like Browner has picked the Pats but his agent is too busy playing Hockey to actually do his job for a client!
