If you want to be a homosexual, be my guest. I'd rather that you don't openly act like a woman around me with your prancing and high pitched squeals, but I have the right to excuse myself from those instances, and you have the right to act like a man, a woman, a robot, or an animal just the same. Whatever floats your boat is cool with me.
If you want to dislike homosexuals, be my guest as well. It's your right, and just like many other subjects, you'd probably have some valid points that make some sense. I do not dislike gays, nor anyone who treats me with respect. That's how I choose to handle it---but that doesn't make "me" right, it's just my personal choice.
In the case of a gay player in the NFL, I think it's unfortunate, but my fear is that it may be too focused on until it's more of an "accepted" practice. That may not happen until other openly gay players come out as well, to help pave the way. Even Michael Sam's father is practically disowning him right now in the media, which will only make this situation even more volatile for future news coverage and controversy. As soon as many see it as a "bold" move that took guts, his father reminds everyone how insanely crazy and disgusting it is, which will make others possibly think twice about applauding his move if they were sitting on the fence to begin with.
