Kurt Warner : Rams Never Got Closure For Spygate

The Rams and their fans believe the Herald walkthrough taping story is true. They're not alone. Mike Francesca, Lou Merloni and others in the local and national media refer to the event as fact ALL THE TIME. I don't listen to Vulgar and Spazz, but I'm guessing they didn't correct Warner at all if that's what he was referring to.

Here's the real gag for Lou Merloni: the Rams have said they only practiced red zone plays during their walk through that morning.

So how did the Rams do on in the red zone in the Super Bowl?

They scored a TD. They were never stopped in the red zone!

Here's something interesting:

Who was spying on the Patriots?

The NFL saw someone spying on the Patriots before the game.

you fail to make sense..the REASON why this thread was put up was because, obviously, someone somewhere else in the NATIONAL MEDIA SPOTLIGHT just brought it up again. You want to censor threads in response while allowing this continuing onslaught of idiocy on the Patriots and by association, Patriot fans? Spoken like a true fan...of another team.

I actually agree with him, maybe 3 times a year does somebody with any clout bring up spygate and when they do you can guarantee there will be a thread on it. Again, same spiel from the same player if there wasn't a thread on it here, a lot of people wouldn't even knew they said it. There is no onslaught, half of the discussion of spygate is perpetuated by Patsfans.com and these useless threads with the same comments over and over.

:spygate:

there is a reason that ^ is called "spygate" in the coding. Let Kurt beat a dead horse, we don't have to contribute. Its not about censoring anything, Its about recognizing that these types of comments that will come up from Kurt every year around this time aren't threadworthy.

I actually like Warner most of the time. He seems like a genuinely good guy, and his performance on the field speaks for itself. Which is why it's kinda weird that he so thoroughly loses perspective the moment anyone brings up Spygate. He has all of the answers that he needs. No credible source has ever claimed that the practices were filmed, the memo that led to Spygate hadn't even been issued yet (so it was irrelevant), and a bunch of people who know far more about gameplanning than Warner does have come out and admitted that it's inconsequential from that perspective. So what's the point of continuing to air this crap out? Just comes off as a sore, bitter loser.

Yep.

I think the interesting part of that story is the statement that "league officials" saw the spying .....and they did nothing.

But when the Pats did it - well...we can't have that.

What makes Warner think that the Patriots were filming signals in 2001? Spygate occurred in 2007 and the tapes handed over were only inclusive of 2006 videos, is it Warner’s position that the Patriots had been filming team’s signals for 6+ years before it came out?

Spygate is dumb it is so overblown, the primary reason the Patriots were penalized as bad as they were was that Belichick lied to Goodell and it took place in Goodell’s first year of being commissioner so he wanted to send a message that he was the all-powerful one and nobody not even Bill Belichick was going to intimidate him. Not to mention Belichick and the Patriots took the fall but that doesn’t mean other teams weren’t doing the same exact thing, and just stopped when they saw what happen here.

What amazes me to this day, is people don't even understand what spygate is all about and why the Pats got punished, even our own fans. What I don't get is, how hard is it for people to understand, that VIDEO TAPING SIGNALS WAS NOT DEEMED ILLEGAL UNTIL 2007. So what the **** does spygate have to do with 2001 ? The years the Pats won the championships, it was legal to videotape signals. How hard is that for anyone to understand. The Pats cheated for exactly ONE ******* GAME, the first game of the 2007 season.

Once again, why can't any St. Louis Ram (or any supposed football expert) understand that ? It bogles my mind.

When this comes up all that needs to be said is....

In sports, cheating always gets exposed by a whistleblower. Someone would inevitably speak up. Like Steve Courson's whistleblowing book on the 70's Steelers. Jose Canseco on MLB. Floyd Landis. Tim Donaghy. And there are others.

Why is it then that not one current or former Patriots employee to date - many who have left on less than good terms - has spoken up about seeing cheating occurring in the Patriots organization or being asked to participate in cheating?

Not one. And I wouldn't hold my breath that someone ever will.

Simple: because it's much easier and much more fun to believe that you and your team were screwed, rather than that your team wasn't good enough to beat the other team.

With that said... if there was any truth to Tomase's story then that would have ruined SB 36 for me. I'm glad that was not the case.

This forum is the only place where Spygate lives on.

There is absolutely nothing new here. We've heard this exact same routine from this exact same player before. I really wish people in here didn't feel it necessary to start a whole new thread every time some sore loser who the Patriots beat at one time or another makes another comment.

Actually, this forum "responds" to Spygate when it is brought up, typically in the national media. In this case, it was Kurt Warner who might be excused from too many hits to his head. Recently, on a segment which Cowher interviewed BB. The panel praised him and the consensus was that he may be the all time greatest coach in the NFL. Boomer spoke of Spygate as a blemish on his legacy.
So, we should not respond to that on a Patriot's discussion board? The real question is why are you posting on this thread?

You have to be kidding me. Go to literally any other football site and you'll see it get mentioned. On PFT there was an article about John Fox not liking the microphones on the field, and right away in the comment section we had a "Belicheat loves microphones and cameras on the field". Never mind the actual Patriots topics.
So some moron leaving a comment on PFT = national attention.

99% of the people keeping this story alive are right here on this forum.

Who had January 29th in the "Kurt Warner whines about Spygate, 2014 edition" pool?

As I have always maintained, if you blame a loss on a VHS tape, your not a real football player and should turn in your man-card.

Hey Kurt, closure was a 48-yarder sailing thru the uprights.

I can see how his memory may have been a little foggy, though.....

I would support a policy that said no more spygate threads ever. Any that are created will be deleted. I mean...seriously....enough is enough.

He lost a Super Bowl when he was favored by a pair of TDs. I'm not surprised that he still can't get past it. I doubt any of the 2007 Patriots will ever get past that one, either.

If you believe that Spygate only lives on in this forum, then I have some prime Ocean Front property in New Mexico to sell you..

I really wish people like yourself didn't feel the need to complain about NEW happenings (this interview happened today) about old subjects.. It would make for a much cleaner board..

You can keep making that claim all you want, but it's pure BS and you know it is.

Didn't Matt Light say that he learned to "move on" from the two SB losses, in response to the Uncredible Faulk's declaration that he'd "never get over being 'cheated' out of SB XXXVI"? I think it came up about a year ago, but my memory might be a bit foggy on that count. Then again, a difference probably exists between actually moving on, and publicly moving on from a misfortune. But I digress.

The Greatest Show on Turf may not have won SB XXXVI, but I will tell that you that Faulk and friends (fans, Warner, etc) have won every accolade under the sun when it comes to the mental gymnastics aspect of the game .

"NEW" happenings? Have you been living in a cave the past 6 years? Kurt Warner has been spouting this same tired old whine for years now.

There is absolutely nothing "NEW" in any of this.

Anyone with any knowledge of football knows that CAMERAGATE was and still is a crutch for the emotionally impaired and insecure individual, be he a fan or player. Kurt is trying to stay relevant through past failure by pointing at others
for that failure. "I hit my thumb with the hammer,... I held it but it was the hammer that hit my thumb,......just sayin'.
