Tom Brady has gone 4-5 in the playoffs since going 14-2.

Of course Manning has also had one more loss that win, but that was since birth, no 14-2 in there.

I'm not sure why this misconception continues to be fueled in the media, although in their defense I did see a lot of stats that showed Brady's 10-4 record against Manning just the same.

Either way, it would seem that Manning gets a bit of a pass for his postseason failures for whatever reason.

Has any other QB started off their playoff career 9-0 with 3 SB?

No. Only Bradshaw and Montana have won four, and Aikman is the only other player to win three. All of them lost a playoff game before their third SB start.

Not to nitpick and my comment will only further your point, but Brady actually started off 10-0.

Yeah I've heard this one. It basically boils down to "If you don't count Brady's SB wins he hasn't been very good in the playoffs."

First it's a weird split because the only way to make a losing record is to start just before the 2007 SB and not where you would naturally split at the end of a season. So it's 6-4 pre 2007, or 4-4 post 2007. Either way still a better win % than Manning's career. So still better than most every QB over that time. Over the same periods Manning is 3-5, or 3-4 respectively so still a losing record.

Second, it's just stupid to say that without the SBs Brady isn't that good. Without the SBs Montana isn't that good either. After he won his last one he never one another one. Same story for every QB.

All I am hearing this week is how QBs are measured by their rings and the pressure is squarely on Manning because of his playoff flops. If he does not win it all, I think he cements his place in history.

All the times he didn't win... he lost.

One thing I recalled seeing this week is that 3 of the 4 QBs starting this weekend were drafted by MLB teams. Manning was the only one not drafted by a baseball team. But what do you expect, he was probably raised to be a QB and nothing but a QB.

I heard on radio today about "who is more likeable - manning or brady?". As expected everyone leaned towards manning because he is more accessible. Seems like a normal everyman .The host claimed he feels manning is humble and approchable while brady doesnt seem to be such and people can related to manning but not to brady's life and how peyton's family is also humble and they are football family and how football is about family.
Even yesterday dan patrick said manning is more likeable since he helps him do his job by being more accessible and friendly blah blah.

This whole manning family knows how to spin the media machine.

And if you throw out the Jets over the Colts then Joe Namath is just a drunk, instead he has a yellow jacket, and it's not just from pee.

Especially when Daddy makes sure Eli, with his pacifier and rattle, kicks and screams his way out of San Diego. America's Royal Hillbilly Family.

54% of people on the ESPN poll think his postseason record is a stain on his legacy.

Great reg season QB...bad postseason QB. But lets not blame him..it was always his bad Ds in indy

If you take away Brady's 3 Super Bowl winning years, he's 9-7

If you take away Brady's 5 Super Bowl runs, he's 5-5.

If you take away Montana's 4 Super Bowl runs, he's 4-7

If you take away Manning's Super Bowl winning year, he's 6-11

If you take away Manning's 2 Super Bowl runs, he's 4-10.

There is no fair way to look at the postseason and have Manning = Brady.

Manning's a great quarterback and he holds most of the regular season records. He needs to burnish his post season accomplishments with another ring at least and then we'll all be growing old with him turning those down home, backwoods, aw shucks country comfort Manningism's he's so well known for. America loves their modern day Buck Owens in a helmet. He stands for all that is right and pure and country strong.
