Broncos defense vs Patriots offense

The question from our point of view is: Will the Pats have any receivers outside of Edelman who can exploit his absence in a meaningful way. Right now, I'd say not really.

Still confident in the Pats running game, short passing and defense though.

Maybe, maybe not. Not sure if you have someone who was like Allen was tonight for the Chargers, but you would know better than I would.

All I know is that having Harris, Rodgers-Cromartie and Champ out there in the slot is significantly better than having DRC, Champ and Jammer. Like very significant.

BTW, I think the real story will be the Patriots' defense, not the Broncos'. The Pats seem to be better built on defense to take on the Broncos' offense. Talib looked pretty healthy on Saturday and can match up well with DaMarius Thomas. Dennard also looked good and could match up with Decker. Logan Ryan did a very good job in replacement of Arrington in the slot. He could draw Welker. And Collins looks like he could be the LB to cover Julius Thomas after he did a good job with Fleener.

The Colts' weapons are no where near as good as the Broncos' weapons, but I think that is the Pats' defense is the defense the media should be focusing on. I still don't think the Broncos' defense is that good and I expect the Pats to score 30 plus points. It will come down to whether the Pats' defense that has performed very well since the Dolphins' game can do so again against an elite offense like the Broncos' offense.

Amendola did have a big catch on Saturday for 53 yards. Vereen is certainly capable of having a big game in the passing game. Thompkins should be back, but he still hasn't done anything since his hip injury. So he is an unknown. I don't know if they have a consistent receiver other than Edelman, but they certainly have guys who can exploit the Broncos' defense.

We wish. With Dobson hobbled and Thompkins possibly concussed, that's likely a no. (man it seems like forever since we've had even them.) Amendola can get behind the D now and then; maybe they can get creative with Vereen.

The Pats WRs vs. the Broncos Secondary next week will be like Ali v. Frazier.

.....unfortunately Ali v. Frazier circa 1992.

What an interesting matchup this will be. Brady has an almost empty chambered weapon against a soft Broncos secondary. Manning has nuclear weapons - - however, against what very well may be the most stacked and deep Patriots secondary since the late 1970's.

Clayborn - Haynes good! dig it!

Don't forget Tim Fox and Prentice McCray also.

It wasn't as much of a passing league back then and that secondary could play some shut-down.

(BTW, Horace, you were ELECTRIC in '78!)

Yea the KT loss is significant as he is the only wr they still have that can put some stretch on the D, and he hasn't been the same since that hip went bad on him earlier in the season. I fear that the broncos are going to play us like the ravens last year and the jets a few years before! where they stacked the box and took away the middle of the field (taking away the run up the middle, our tes and slot receivers) and left the sidelines open. Even if we had Gronks deep middle threat it would be something.

If the weather is to perfect, the worry is they get a few quick scores, and then we are in hurry up pass situations.

Not good. I want the Pats to win, but not due to injuries.

If only the Broncos would look at our IR list and just forfeit the game by the same logic.

At this point, a W is a W. What we have been through, I really have no sympathy.

And with that logic, we should be SB champs by default.

Agreed, but the Pats have endured enough of those this year that it is doubtful the Broncos could claim excuses based on an injured player.

Injuries happen. I don't wish for them, but teams have to deal. If the Pats win and he doesn't play, then I won't feel cheated by his absence at all.

Yeah, who gives a ****?
Broncos threw a party when Gronk went down.

If you're planning a pity parade, don't bother sending my invitation.

We're missing 8 starters. **** Denver and their corner.

Yep, that's a pretty big blow for our defense. I'm not here to get into a "who's been hit worse by injuries" argument, just noting that that's definitely a crucial loss for us. At this point, with Von out, Harris was our most valuable defender still healthy.

You really have sympathy for injuries to our opponents at this point? Wow...

No sympathy, but I still don't root for injuries and I would rather beat a team at full strength.

I don't care what Broncos fans did. I find it classless to cheer for injuries.

Given what has transpired in 2013, that's some good unintentional comedy.
