Who should the Patriots sign with open roster spot?

The most likely candidate is not going to be some street free agent who hasn't played in a year, but a less-headline worthy promotion from the Practice Squad. These are guys that have been practicing with the team, can work special teams, have been studying the playbook, and are more familiar with the terminology on play calls.

  • OL: Braxston Cave
  • OL: Jordan Devey
  • OL: R.J. Mattes

  • DL: Marcus Forston

  • LB: Ja'Gared Davis
  • LB: Taylor Reed

  • WR: Sam McGuffie
  • WR: Greg Orton

Earthwind Moreland

Terrell Owens

From one of the reporters at practice:

WR Aaron Dobson is the lone Patriots player missing from practice. There's a new WR wearing No. 84 here too. Shorter guy.

So it's not Orton, and that isn't McGuffie's #.

Another WR on the 53 essentially spells doom for Dobson. Time for KT to step it up.

Apparently he is smaller than Edelman. That rules out Lloyd, Moss, Stallworth... who else?

Ummm . . . let's not line up at the Tobin just yet.

It does seem odd though that the new guy—if a replacement for Dobson—is "shorter than Edelman."

They have an open roster spot because Spikes is on IR. Doesn't necessarily mean Dobson is done quite yet.

Doom as in for Saturday. I can't see him playing when he missed all of last weeks practice and the start of this week. Signing another WR points to that IMO. BB is probably keeping him for the AFCCG/SB.

Why have 6 WRs (+Slater) if Dobson was ready to go Saturday?

It must be BB with the #84 , he said like "fck that, I'll show this kids how it's done"

WR seems like an odd choice at this point. Edelman, KT, Amendola, and Collie are enough (I cant see them dressing this guy as a 5th WR) and Dobson hopefully will be back. This would seem to not be a good sign for Dobson but as the new guy does not seem to be in the same mold it may mean little.

I think Dobson will be questionable for Saturday. At this point, they have:

Amendola
Edelman
Thompkins
Collie
Dobson
New guy

I'm hoping Dobson is healthy enough to play effectively.

Clearly the only explanation for this is that Brady is planning to revolutionize football with a new underarm throwing motion.

ET
Think about it

He has the magic touch?
He likes to fly home?
His touch can heal people?
As an alien, he wouldn't be counted as an extra "man" on the field?
Given his limited English, BB could absolutely fleece him in contract negotiations?

That's all I got.

No need to worry.

The New England Patriots signed Deion Branch and the Indianapolis Colts signed an imposter.

Ja'Gared Davis gets the last roster spot, vacated by Spikes.

Not surprising. Hope he makes an impact in a good way!
