The simplest most concise way to respond to these nit wits.....

A) It wasn't illegal to tape from that location until 2007, so all of the pats wins and SB's were legit.

B) The memo making taping from that spot illegal was circulated during the summer of 2007. The Pats got pinched the first game of the season. So if you want to call taping ten yards closer to where it was/is legal they never had a chance to cheat.

I can confidently say that about 90%+ of the average fan has no idea of the actual "truths" of what happened with Cameragate.

For one thing, it was mainly geared towards the NFC opponents as they felt that they could help to bridge the gap of less scouting/intel. It was also done in response to many other teams (reportedly also the NYJ) doing it too. Belichick claims that he misunderstood the memo. Whether that is true or not, I have no idea. I can guarantee you that there's no way in the world that he could have ever guessed that it'd have become what it did though. I also believe that it didn't have nearly the kind of positive effect for us that so many seem to think, judging by our better record overall since--especially our scoring output on offense.

I'm fine with a punishment if he broke a rule in the big picture. What I'm not fine with is Goodell throwing fuel on the fire, and failing to stop what quickly (within 72 hrs) became a plethora of mis-information and poorly guided misconception by the media and average fan. Of course we all wish that Belichick himself would have helped his case a bit by explaining things a bit more, but that's just not the way he is. He couldn't care less what others think.

My favorite response to the nit wits is to invite them to come over to the dark side where they can simultaneously bask in the glory radiating from TFB's rings while feasting on the jealousy and fear spewing from the haters at the mere mention of Emperor Hoodie's name.

As our mantra, let the immortal words of Ken Patera ring out far and wide across the NFL universe; "win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat!" :D

Miami fans are utterly deluded. Unfortunately they've got the Miami Heat to 'justify' their feeling of entitlement.

The Dolphins on the other hand haven't been good since the days of Marino. I have no idea what their fans are smoking. Their football team hasn't beaten ours since 2009!!

Lolphin fans are like troglodytes gazing into the sun. They see something so amazing, yet they don't realize this beauty because it hurts to look. They don't understand how it exists, so they use superstitions to explain it's brilliance.

The Dolphins fans are talking themselves into believing they can beat the Patriots, and then you get to Post #19 by a guy named MonstBlitz:

LOL. This stuff just cracks me up. Surely, the coach and staff of a team that's been to five Super Bowls in the 2000s and his HOF quarterback cannot figure out how to deal with the Rob Chudzinski, Wade Phillips and Jack Del Rio to rally from behind without cheating.

Sure, the Pats caught some big breaks from the refs against the Browns, but that stuff balances out over the course of the season (Jets & Panthers anyone?), but there is no indication the Patriots cheated.

I guess it's nice to have an excuse before you put on your Marino jersey and head oout for the game.

Careful: New England still dangerous even without Gronk

Someone who can play a sport at a high level means that person can play a sport at a high level, little more. Look, athletes, movie/TV stars, celebrities are seen, understandably so, by many in the general public with 'awe'. Yet for some reason that awe translates into respect and greater consideration-importance of their thoughts/words. It's a funny thing when you consider that being really good at catching a ball, mimicking a character from a make believe story or looking pretty on TV has no bearing on whether that person's words are worthy thoughts. Then again, you know, I think a bikini clad Miley Cyrus or a make up encrusted Kim Kardashian speaking on how awful a person BB is could be really excellent food for thought (this player speaking on BB is actually not far off from those examples).

Yet remember, Athletes, movie/TV stars, celebrities are given a venue to speak where their words are of high visibility to the public. Their success as a celebrity can sometimes be tied to or even enhanced when they speak in a planned and/or calculated way (and is not what they honestly believe). Keep in mind this player just got a lot more mentions in the public domain. That can often equal additional $$$$

Lastly, and I am know I am probably in the distinct minority on this, I hope BB has found a way to continue to video other teams......just in a way that maintains some plausibly that it is in the bounds of the rules (assuming video-ing helps the team). This is not to give credence to this player (he's likely just another fool), this is to say I want BB trying to gain every edge possible. Video how/when/why plays are called. Teach offensive linemen/DBs to hold without the refs seeing it. Make opposing teams think player X is not hurt so they have to game plan for him (only for them to see Player X inactive for the game). So an opposing QB loves strip joints? Perfect! time for a couple of the strippers dressed to the nines to mysteriously end up in the hotel lounge of the opposing team's hotel on Saturday night. A Center or Nose Tackle has a fear of clowns from childhood and to this day it throws him off his game? Hire a friggin circus to sit in the front row of the stadium. Hire lip readers. Optimize quality and quantity of comments to the refs to get the right calls at the right time........ etc etc etc. Short of committing a crime or causing someone injury, I don't see the problem with mental warfare, subterfuge, highly detailed intelligence gathering. It's a game not trying to cure cancer.
If the Patriot's intel/recon provided our coaches information on how Houston/Cleveland would play a certain play, how they call that play, lip read it or knew their hand signals, and that ended up being critical information to help achieve victory? Fantastic! And I don't see the problem with it.

I can't believe we're legitimizing this guy by giving him his own thread here. Anytime I read stuff like this I forget about it and move on. I believe all Patriots fans should. As long as fans of other teams can see that they can still get our attention with this carp they will continue to do this.

When i comes down to it logic wouldn't work because the fans of other teams that bring cheating up really don't care it makes them feel better about their team to think that the pats cheated to win. I think BB knew what he was doing hes so maticulous how could he not. Now i remember this was a rule that was never inforced up until 07, i had forgotten that) The 07 memo said it was going to be. I'm sure if BB had known what the consequence was going to be im sure none of this would ever have happened. In most cases he doesn't care what people think but in this case i think he would. And finally we come to Herr Goodell. Even though i think the worst of this guy i believe if he had to do it all over again he would have emphasized that this wasn't cheating, (he never said it was cheating the media (espn did)) the feeding frenzy that took place after his ruling and destruction of the tapes tarnish the image of the NFL, and this guy is all about things like image. And making more $$$$$$$$$$$$

Leigh Montville had a great column in last Sunday's Globe comparing BB to Red Auerbach and their "shenanigans.". If I weren't literally on my way out the door I'd provide a link. Google it for a great read. As usual, Leigh gets it.

It's funny because I could swear that Nick Saban openly stated after the Phins 21-0 win against us in 2006 that they knew all of Brady's cadences that game. I suppose BB must have given them to Saban's coaching staff in a fit of yuletide cheer.

Edit: Also, it's adorable that a fan of any team can claim the higher, more righteous road in the NFL, or any professional sport. When you reach that level of competition, if you ain't cheating, you really ain't trying. From all of the holds linemen and corners get away with to WR's pushing off to players doing the juice to get a competitive advantage to coaches trying to get intel on other coaches. If you're not okay with your team doing it and the other team trying to counter it, go sell Girl Scout cookies and feed the homeless on Sundays.

The Dolphins have some talent in place to give teams a tough time. Unfortunately for their fans, they also have Stephen Ross as an ower and Jeff Ireland as a GM (who should be able to retain his job if they keep winning).

Hopefully the Pats run the same play over and over again at the end of the game to really insult the Fins and their fans.

A Ken Patera reference? Nice!

In this millenium, the Dolphins have had the following head coaches:

Dave Wannestedt
Jim Bates
Nick Saban
Cam Cameron
Tony Sparano
Todd Bowles
Joe Philbin

Is it really surprising that some of their fans can't recognize good coaching (don't even get me started on good quarterbacking) when they see it?

I don't think you can say KC is the best AFC team when Denver beat them convincingly in both games. I think Denver is definitely the most talented team in the AFC, but they are not built for the playoffs. Their receiving corps is too finesse/soft, Manning struggles in the cold/in big games, and they have a weak secondary. We can beat them even in Denver.

Yeah, its a good point, but its just my opinion, and I was saying TEAM. I do think that KC is the best all around team in the AFC. From O , QB, WR's, TE, RB, OL, D, DL ,DS, and coaching, I do not see a glaring weakness on KC.
I think one reason BB should get coach of the year over AR is AR does not know how to beat DEN. I dont think DEN is beating KC. I believe they are being out coached.
DEN D is horrible, and a glaring weakness. They remind me alot of the Saints, and Fox is very familair with how we play. Its easy to see hes using his new toys at DEN the same way. But even though we had the best overall offense for 8 years, that high octain O was always beat by slow, methodical, ground beating, and clock eating offenses like the 49ers. Especially on away games, when the D would even get worse.
I dont think DEN is the best TEAM, I think it has the best O though.

That entire forum is hilarious right now. They are all claiming that this is a franchise defining game for the Phins and how this game will end the Pats dynasty! Pretty comical stuff.

fans of other teams that bring cheating up really don't care

So true. It isn't about determining the facts of the case otherwise anyone with the ability to fog up a mirror would look at the reality that the Patriots became a better offensive team post 2006 so how the hell does all of our success come down to taping defensive signals?

These same fans will laud Jimmy Johnson as a better coach than Belichick despite JJ openly stating they did the same ****.

It's all about having a reason to discredit a team that has been insanely successful for the last 13 years. It's just a real shame that Spygate will always define this team for a not insignificant number of people. Which is why I'm not sure Belichick is going to retire anytime soon.

Where have we heard that claim before?

Better yet, how many times have we heard this claim in the past 7-8 yrs?

The Patriots can lose this game, and return well rested and well prepared for the divisional round with the #2 seed just as well (assuming that CIN loses to either the Steelers or Ravens in their next 3 as well).

This game is important, just as any of them are, but it will hardly define anything as far as "ending their dynasty," etc. We still have the playoffs and will be fielding a pretty strong team over the next couple/few years as far as any of us can tell.

When you win 11/13 division titles this is the kind of stuff you're division foes come up with.
