Fair point, though in April it was probably already clear that Gronk was not going to
be ready for Opening Day. OTOH, Bill also probably figured that at least one of
Ballard & Fells would be able to help fill the void during Gronk's absence.

I'll give the FO a pass on Fauria if they indeed made an offer to him. Not signing
Dallas Clark, however, is still inexcusable.

You are right how could we pass up a guy so good that he has 87 receiving yards......in the last 6 games.

True, and I understand that Mulligan & Clark are different types of TEs; however, it seems
to me that we have 3 players for 2 positions: Mulligan, HooHah & Develin. Bill should've
cut bait with 1 of those 3 and instead kept DJ Williams, or better still signed Tony Moeaki
before Buffalo did.

The Patriots don't need a move tight end, they have plenty of primarily short-to-intermediate targets who accomplish the same thing in Amendola, Edelman, and Vereen. They need block-first tight ends so they can have an extra pass blocker without forcing Gronk or Vereen to stay at home and block. Hooman is the best of these because he at least has some ability to release and catch balls, so hopefully he's healthy. Signing players off the trash heap who do what current guys do only much much worse isn't going to help.

well they found a use for hernandez and this guy should be just as good. He can also block, not just a move TE.

DJ Williams sucks. Moeaki would have been a good choice, and he'd have fit into the Patriots glass menagerie. That was such a perfect fit that I don't know why it didn't happen. It looked almost like a match made in heaven.

If that were so, he should no trouble getting a big contract from someone.
