Panthers scare me

We need to key in on stopping the damn run, which is obviously easier said than done--but extremely key nonetheless.

Shutting down CAR's running game and forcing Newton to throw the ball would pay dividends in my opinion, and should be the biggest key to the game.

On offense we may end up abandoning the run altogether by the second half unless we're up by 10+, as we've done in other games vs tough defensive fronts. Spreading them out and trying to take advantage of mismatches + getting rid of the ball quickly may be the way to go.

Then again, I'm not claiming to have the knowledge of a coach either, so I'm likely just stating the obvious. As always, execution and the ability to change/adapt will be the main points, aside from not turning the ball over.

It is imperative that the offensive line be at their best Monday night as it will make a huge difference.

How do people think the Panthers' front 7 compare to the Jets'? Does a better pass rush and Luke Kuechly give the Panthers an edge?

Carolina front 7 is better.

Fact is, this Carolina D is the best we're gonna face all year. Almost laughable people comparing the Steelers D with this one. Stats don't tell the whole story. Carolina D is exactly the type of defense that's historically given us problems.

Now with that said, they haven't played an offense like ours all year either. I'm expecting a dog fight Monday. And I think everyone else should be 2

Pretty sure no one suggesting NE would be dropping 55 on the #2 D in the NFL.....if the Pitt game never was played.

1-2 on the road.

How has NE faired in the road against real defenses this year?

This will be the best D NE has faced.

The assumption NE has an easy win ahead is living on the past. Will be a tough game for them

We are 2-2 on the road BTW...

Do you post at that Carolina huddle website? I respect your defense, but I seen some of your fans there say Gronk not gonna be an issue because you guys play Graham twice a year. Now you know Gronk is a complete different animal then Graham is right?

I played this game on Madden and won 35-10.

Pats had 250 yards passing, 100 rushing. Vereen scored 2 TD's, Amendola, Ridley and Thompkins also scored TD's. Dennard had a contender for play of the year with a pick, Cole had a fumble recovery on a kick off that went to the 1 yard line and Ridley forced and recovered a fumble after a Brady pick. So this will all definetely happen on Monday

That's some beautiful irony

You won vs the Panthers on Madden?

Shoot...I won't even think twice about the game now. This alleviates all of our concerns

I only shared it cause of the Ridley fumble recovery incident...

Mine was more fun 56-49 with Wilfork strip sacking Scam inside the Pats 10 yd line with almost no time left. although we're in for some trouble if we give up 49pts. On the other hand, it'd be pretty sweet if Vince played...

Any news on weather Ben Vareen is playing? Gotta think this dude is ready after he had more than enough time. Talib would be nice as well. I don't think panthers have too many targets if Steve Smith gets shut down.

I don't think Ben Vereen is under contract. But at 67-years-old and no playing time in the NFL, I have to agree that he's had more than enough time to get ready for the Panthers game.

QB play will decide this game IMO.

Monday night and full of pressure. Anyone know how Cam has performed in the past when under the lights in prime time?

Carolina's linebackers are definitely better, but I'd probably give the nod to the Jets' defensive line. The Wilkerson-Harrison-Richardson combo is scary good, almost as good as Wilfork-Warren-Seymour used to be. The Jets don't have anyone in their LB corps as good as Kuechly, though. All in all, I'd say that their front sevens are nearly equal, with probably a slight nod to Carolina. Cincinnati's front 7 was also right up there with both of them before Atkins went down.

Well, we have fans that say that....you have fans that think an old, slow Pitt a who is last in the league in forced turnovers is comparable to our D.

Me? Gronk is like Graham on steroids. Bigger, more physical, tougher to bring down....

1-0 on MNF
1-0 this year in prime time games
2-1 in his career....his first Thur night game was bad.

Since the Pats already played New Orleans (with Graham at 100%) and Cincinnati (with Atkins at 100%), it's debatable that this will be their toughest game to date. If nothing else, those games were clearly bigger challenges just based on the fact that Gronk and Amendola weren't available. I feel better about this game than I did about the Saints game going into it, I'll tell you that much.

Saints in the Dome vs away really is two separate conversations. Playing NO at Foxboro....playing them at NO means you would of essentially played a different team.

Bengals were fresh of a defeat to the Browns when you played them. They weren't in a groove.

I think that when you play a team matters. NYG for example, a team could play them late in the year and they could easily be much tougher then. Chemistry, confidence, getting on rolls.....a lot more than just rosters comes into play.

Thank goodness! Now I don't have to watch the game. :singing:

The....
The Pats are going to win a physical game against a good team on Monday, by two touchdowns.

From your lips to God's ears...but I think I'd keep my money in my pocket on the two TD win thing...

Nothing for nothing, but they seem like a bunch of arrogant A holes to me. A few good seasons sure turns fans into ****s. They already have their plans for throwing it in Pats fans faces "when" they win. It aint over till the fat lady sings. Sure we might lose, but we've seen that thinking get turned on it's head this season. Crying about losing next week sure isn't helping. I personally think we will win.

Ignore the thread above; if you notice it is in their "Smack Talk" forum, with expected responses.

Matt Bowen:

The Comeback Ginn ran in the 4th was textbook. Speed off the ball, push the CB up the field + clean cut downhill to the ball.

Both Steve Smith, T. Ginn created separation on the break to come back to the ball.

Panthers tape: Newton made some clutch throws on 3rd & 7-10 in the 4th Qtr vs. 49ers on the Out/Comeback.

Matt Bowen:

Panthers are late on a Zone Blitz vs. 49ers "999" route (4 Verts from 3x1). Ball has to come out. Leads to a sack:
