With Collie gone due to injury do you think they will simply reinsert Thompkins or could Josh Boyce be given an opportunity?

Top 3 WR’s
Dobson
Amendola
Edelman

Personally I would like to see them give Boyce an opportunity to play some football, I see him having more potential than Thompkins and I also think he adds an element of speed to the game that very few in the NFL can duplicate.

KT. Boyce is more of a slot guy and we already have two good ones out there.

For all the complaints about Thompkins being a healthy inactive last week, it happened to Boyce far earlier. There's not really any reason to expect him to have passed Thompkins or for him to do so yet this season.

1. Amendola
2. Dobson
3. Edelman
4. Thompkins
5. Boyce

That is not provided by the team, or coaching staff, it is an estimate based on observation.

And the observation is likely based purely on Slater being active on gameday and Boyce not. Even though, were both to be made active, Boyce would no doubt get more snaps at WR than Slater does.

If it was a choice between KT or JB I'd pick Thompkins ( see Saints game)

For those players that play the position of wide receiver I would guess that in terms of playing time this would be the ranking for the rest of the season:
  1. Aaron Dobson
  2. Julian Edelman
  3. Danny Amendola
  4. Kenbrell Thompkins
  5. Josh Boyce
In terms of 'pass catchers' rather than wide recivers, I would guess the ranking of whom will be targeted most often will be as follows:
  1. Rob Gronkowski
  2. Danny Amendola
  3. Shane Vereen
  4. Julian Edelman
  5. Aaron Dobson
  6. Michael Hoomanawanui
  7. Kenbrell Thompkins
  8. Brandon Bolden
  9. Stevan Ridley
  10. Josh Boyce
  11. Matthew Mulligan
  12. James Develin

For what it's worth, of the 668 offensive snaps thus far this season, here are the snap counts and percentages:

WR:
81.0% (541 snaps) - Julian Edelman
72.2% (482 snaps) - Kenbrell Thompkins
59.3% (396 snaps) - Aaron Dobson
34.4% (230 snaps) - Danny Amendola
11.2% (75 snaps) -- Austin Collie
7.93% (53 snaps) -- Josh Boyce

TE:
71.1% (475 snaps) - Michael Hoomanawanui
19.8% (132 snaps) - Rob Gronkowski
12.6% (84 snaps) -- Matthew Mulligan
6.59% (44 snaps) -- Zach Sudfeld
3.29% (22 snaps) -- Nate Solder

RB/FB:
35.9% (240 snaps) - Stevan Ridley
32.8% (219 snaps) - Brandon Bolden
20.8% (139 snaps) - James Develin
20.7% (138 snaps) - LeGarrette Blount
8.38% (53 snpas) -- Shane Vereen
2.10% (14 snaps) -- Leon Washington

Just for the sake of comparison of where the team was at the start of the season to where it is now, here are the offensive snaps (out of a total of 94) back in week one at Buffalo:
WR:
96.8% (91) - Kenbrell Thompkins
88.3% (83) - Julian Edelman
62.8% (59) - Danny Amendola
16.0% (15) - Josh Boyce

TE:
85.1% (80) - Michael Hoomanawanui
20.2% (19) - Zach Sudfeld
11.7% (11) - Nate Solder

RB/FB:
59.6% (56) - Shane Vereen
24.5% (23) - LaGarrette Blount
19.1% (18) - James Develin
16.0% (15) - Stevan Ridley

It's KT. There's no debate.

Let's keep in mind he's been banged up. It might have something to do with his slide down the depth chart, but either way, no way has he slid below Boyce.

What happened to Collie?

its Thompkins unless they sign Branch or Lloyd and that's not happening

Thompkins has a reception just 41% (23/56) this season, banged up or not banged up that is not good enough to be on a NFL field. If a street free agent can pass him (Collie) than I see no reason why Boyce a 4th rounder couldn’t surpass him in the second half of the season. I think people forget that Josh Boyce was the player we drafted and Thompkins was an UDFA. Boyce is far more talented and had a better college career, to say there is no way Boyce surpasses him sounds odd to me.

I still don't get why people are so down on KT. Sure he's had a lot of drops, but so have most of our receivers. I think he's a solid #4.

no collie???

sign Timmy...

I appreciate that you love the stats. That's been established. Not exactly the best way to view performances on the football field. It was discussed here and talked about in articles that those stats are skewed (for both KT and Dobson) by miscommunications and lack of chemistry early on. Again, the devil is in the details.

Have there been drops? sure. Are his completion percentages 100% his fault? Absolutely not. Same goes for Dobson.

On another note, when was he passed by Collie? We must not be seeing the same thing. I saw him play an instrumental role in the NO win. He was inactive last week but there has been talk about that being injury related (at least partially).

I was very high on Thompkins and hopeful that he would build on the game winning catch against the Saints but that didn't happen.

I am not anti Thompkins but in the same respect since the start of camp he has been given more opportunity than Boyce. I for one wouldn't mind seeing Boyce receive that opportunity or at least a shot at it.

I wonder if we can get this guy to play WR. He's already gotten the QB role down.
