Very strange, RT Jonathan Martin has gone AWOL from Dolphins.

At the end of the day it's supposed to be a team where teammates look out for one another.

When I played in high school, in grade 10, some of us were playing or practicing with the senior team (gr 11 & 12). A group of seniors cornered one of the weaker gr 10 guys in the locker room, and proceeded to take a pickle and a paddle and paddle the pickle up his you-know-what. That kid never played a team sport from that moment on.

You would think that NFL paid professionals would act more mature than high school kids.

Well said. I understand some things like carrying pads/helmets and getting donuts, etc., but the really degrading and humiliating stuff is just reprehensible. If someone tried to stick something up my butt, I would try to rip one of their eyes out. just my opinion.

Maybe they think he is gay or something. (I don't condone bullying)

Note to self: do NOT try to pick up James at a gay bar

I dunno. Sounds like some fun times. Reminds me of going on liberty down to Panama, and a few places best left to the haze of tequila-drenched memories.

One of my best friends came back from the 'Nam in '70....got stationed at Bliss...I went down there for a few weeks just before he got out to help him pack up and move back to RI. We went to Juarez every friggin' night, drinking ten cent shots of tequila and chasing Mexican whores. They had all these shops with the typical sombreros and rugs and paintings and crap...one night we're leaving and we head up the main drag to the bridge and the uS...we go into every shop and haggle with the owners on the way out ,leaving every shop screaming "F You!" and them screaming back "you dirty gringos..eff you gringo"....so we get to the bridge, stumbling like the morons we were at the time and we turn back to look down the main drag in Juarez....heh....dozens and dozens of these shop owners screaming "F you gringos" and throwing us the single finger salute.

Anyway,we get to the check point and some clown pulls up in a pickup truck and starts slicking his hair back all nervous and stuff...so we're laughing like jackasses at HIM because we know he's trying to run something and we wait to see the border guards jack him up...unfortunately for us, that was the last thing we saw in public for the next four hours. These giant Texas cracker boys with badges picked the three of us up by our elbows and hustled us inside....and I mean BIG...I'm 6"3 and they towered over me. Anyway, I'm sitting in this interrogation room crashing like a ba$tard on the tequila buzz and this little skinny **** comes in with a NY Yankee hat on and tells me to strip. He went through my clothes with a razor blade. Slit the seams in my jeans on the inside and out up to the pockets. He cut the soles of my shoes from the tops all the way back to the heel. No lie.All the time he's saying to me"you ain't carry drugs are ya?" as he's cutting my clothes to shreds....heh ...yeah...WTF was I smuggling...fairy dust???

Anyway, at 6 am they let us go...the desert scirocco is blowing hard, tumbleweeds rolling down the main drag into El Paso...and there we are, walking back to the Holiday Inn with our clothes flapping and the soles of our shoes flopping and clip clopping...three total clowns...and right then I realized...that guy in the truck WAS running something...and the border guards were in on it. The moral of the story? Stay the hell out of other people's back yards.

Bob Dylan's, "Just LikeTom Thumb Blues...

When you're lost in the rain in Juarez
And it's Eastertime too
And your gravity fails
And negativity don't pull you through
Don't put on any airs
When you're down on Rue Morgue Avenue
They got some hungry women there
And they really make a mess outa you

On a more serious note..

Busting B's is a part of the male culture, going over the line and allowing to effect someone to this extent is an indicator of ineffective leadership of this team...

Either way Miami won last night on an OT safety... but all of this seems hypocritical as the NFL has been trying to polish its image..

Good times. Good times.

Just be glad the new search protocols weren't in place at the time. Unless that's your thing - no judgments here.

What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

as a hetro male. some of the funniest nights out I've had have been in gay bars.

Feel bad for the guy. Who among us wouldn't snap if we were having trouble at work and all our co-workers treated us like garbage. I hope his teammates apologize to him no matter what they think of his play...

Is the guy way over-reacting to some normal ribbing or are they seriously laying into him? If he’s really weak emotionally he just doesn’t belong in the league, apparently he’s getting beaten like a drum by D-linemen, I wonder if that’s part of it.

I've been to gay bars with my non-heterosexual friends. I'm more concerned about paddles and pickles.

'Fins player: Jonathan Martin would be welcomed back - NFL.com

Dolphins offensive guard Nate Garner called the reported pranks on Martin "normal stuff" that wasn't serious, according to The Palm Beach Post.

Locker room dynamics can be harsh and unforgiving, as we see almost yearly on HBO's "Hard Knocks". It's not hard to wonder, if Martin decides to rejoin his team, whether his teammates would welcome him warmly.

NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith is scheduled to meet with the Dolphins and one topic of discussion will be Martin's situation, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, according to a union source. The union has reached out to people close to Martin to begin learning about the situation.

Wait...that's not normal?

I'm bullied and picked on everyday by my co-workers....and I'm self employed!

The NFLPA is investigating Richie Incognitio for his role in the harassment of Martin. It wasn't bad enough that the rest of the NFL thinks Incognito is a ****, now, he's allegedly turned on his own team mates. One Dolphins employee has mentioned that Incognito is a "model citizen". That directly contradicts his on field demeanor.

This guy is a piece of work.

This is an interesting dilemma- on the one hand, picking on a teammate is a form of bonding, and also a way to put a rookie in his place, but how far do you go with this?

Obviously full-blown hazing is detrimental to the concept of teamwork; nothing divides a team like taking sides on an issue within the team. Where do you draw the line?
