Just trying to get a barometric reading on people's feeling here...

I'm thinking, in Magic 8-Ball fashion, 'Outlook not so good'.

The Saints have a running game, the key element of our run D is out.

Their defense is not as good as the Bengals (right?), and we will have Gronk, but a rusty Gronk versus a hot Brees/Graham, coupled with our drop-happy rookies? I don't see how we win this game. We will need to put up 30 points.

Hope I'm wrong....Weather should be better than last week, though frankly not sure which team that helps.

Isn't the weekly prediction thread contest enough for predictions?

Now we need another thread?

The Saints average about 78 yards/game on the ground for 3.1 yards/carry. They love passing the ball and do so well. The Patriots will probably be in nickel or dime for most of this game. Having Kelly there would help but it looks like he'll be out since he missed practice again today according to reports. If there's a team to be light against the run against it would seem to be NO.

Not the same thing, and that thread is not for discussion (it is actively discouraged), but I defer to the mods.

You have a good point: I overstated their running game. It is weaker than my post suggests.

OTOH their coach is good enough to realize he should push the running game. If Sproles enters beast mode...we are in trouble. The way Cincinatti pushed us around in short yardage situations was very worrisome.

So you were worried about their running game when you thought it was good, but now are worried about it because its bad but their coach isn't an idiot?
I think you are looking for a reason to worry, although that is the definition of being a fan for many, many people.

When I saw the upcoming schedule after our 3rd game, and injuries to Vereen and Amendola and NO Gronk, I expected us to lose to ATL, CIN and NO. I still expect to lose to NO. I just feel at this moment, they are a better team. It'll be a great test for our defense though.

Tough game but i think that the Patriots give their best performance top date and win at home. Brady is over 80% at home and i think he finds a way to get oit done this week.

this is the second of 5 initial(preseason prediction) games that i thought could go either way.

Still could go either way

its a toss up two good teams two great QB's two defenses that are playing much better then the year before, I guess it comes down to can Gronk and Amendola not just play but make a impact if the answer yes then the pats will win if no then im not sure they can win

I had this as their first loss. Now it looks like it will be their second.

A non-rain game would be a nice gift to our rookies.... can't catch a wet ball if their life depended on it....

Sorry, but you don't need to look too hard. A QB playing as good as he ever has vs. a QB playing worse than he ever has. The best pass catching TE/RB combo in the league vs. LBs that couldn't cover you or me. New Orleans will get up early, blitz the heck out of Brady and run away with this. Mark it down.

If the Pats come out and run the ball effectively and do something similar to what they did to Denver last year I see a Pats victory.

Geez, with "fans" like you, who needs enemies? :bricks: I don't care how realistic you think your perspective is, some of it's simply wrong and all of it sucks.

I don't need to look far, but more to the point: it could be that their passing game has been so good they have gone with what is working. That doesn't mean they couldn't have had a better running game. Because of the new situation with the Pat's D, with Wilfork out, that is clearly something a good coach (even a crappy coach) will go after. We'll see if this is a well-founded worry...like when u told me I was overreacting to Dowling's injury the day before he was cut or perhaps me being chicken little.

Saints are on a mission this year. Their defense is playing much better and the offense is back on track with a multitude of weapons. Even with Gronk back I can't see the Pats keeping pace with Brees. When has TFB and BB beaten Brees and Peyton?

Pats improved D keeps it close for 3 quarters but I see the Saints prevailing. I'll take the points and Saint to win the game outright.

This is not your 2007/2011 Pats unfortunately. Not at this point in the season.

Going to the game but I don't think this is going to be pretty. I see the pats getting blown out losing by 20+ points. I think the score will be something like 37-10
