Not happening.
His position is crystal clear. And so is 31 of the "other teams" he would play for - - plenty of whom have big needs on their DL's.
All you have to look at is the DL our OL manhandled last night that plays in the man's own city. They need him FAR more than the Pats do, they are 1-3 and struggling to save their season and they ain't giving him his price him are they?
You don't need a diagram.
I'm not saying it's happening. I was questioning your post because of your naked assertion, just as you'd have done had our positions been reversed.
I thought the Wilfork injury was devastating but us having no chance of signing an in season unsiged free agent defensive tackle who will turn 34 years old in 6 days and is coming off a 15 total tackle season, now that's devastation.
Someone needs to tell Seymour it is not 2005 and he is not that good anymore, for that matter someone should tell him we didn't want him when he was good so what makes him think we'd want him now, guys a prick diva who runs his mouth way to much.
I don't blame Josh for starting the thread, but anyone who honestly thinks that Seymour and Belichick had a chance of both agreeing to financial value AND reconciling their differences is obviously not following the team too closely.
That said, again--Zeus simply addressed an issue that has been a popular fan misconception (it's "possible" that he could come back is the phrase that's been widely used since the spring), but most of us felt that there was about a zero percent chance of ever seeing this happen.
Seymour still feels that his compensation should be in the 6-7-8 million dollar a year range, so apparently he feels that someone is suddenly going to come knocking at his door. We all know that isn't going to happen, just like it didn't with Abraham either, and he actually didn't want anything close to the money that Seymour does.
I'm sure that Belichick could have had any number of young, upcoming DL in free agency this year seeing as how it was a buyer's market, and yet he didn't feel that it was worth pursuing. I highly doubt he'd have wanted to give even more money to a guy like Seymour, who had some issues as being a bit of a diva when he was here and in his prime.
BigDick says no way. I say good. He wasn't earning his money the last time he was here. Don't think he'd have anything to offer this team. Quite sure Belichick has zero interest.
