NFL trade market – WR and TE

IMO he was the best WR in this Draft and he has a great WR on the other side of him he should have a really good season

That's good to hear until we play them, b/c I have him currently sitting on the bench on my FF team. I'm hoping to move him up eventually, at least to the flex position anyway.

On the other hand, it was miserable to watch SD blow that lead tonight. HOU scored 24 unanswered points. It would've been nice to get an early loss for a conference contender, and tonight was the perfect opportunity.

Let's bring back Moss. While obviously not the same, he's still familiar with Brady & the offense and I think he would be reasonable WR. Plus, Thompkins and especially Dobson could learn a few things from him.

The bolded part is one of the reasons not to bring him back.

Any talk of Moss is completely useless, as it's been for the last couple of yrs now.

I'm not an expert with contractual negotiations and responsibilities, but my guess is that any money that Moss was offered to play football wouldn't overcome the money that he'd likely have to pay back for breaking his pact with the television contract.

That's not even bringing into account the fact that Belichick made a decision and moved on, and/or the fact that he wasn't of all that much use on any of the other teams that he's recently played for.

A number of former vet acquisitions are evidence otherwise.

Yeah, I'm still somewhat surprised that so many fans can think that anyone will automatically step in and pick up our system to the point where they could contribute quickly enough.

At least the young rookies have been learning the system for awhile now, which is a very important aspect that shouldn't be undervalued. It's also one of the main reasons why Belichick likely would've already brought someone else in awhile ago if he actually expected them to contribute. I think those decisions were made early on prior to the OTA's and mini's back when we were entertaining the thought of Emmanuel Sanders etc.

There's always a chance that we could look at a seasoned journeyman vet who's played here before, or someone else who isn't expected to be active or contribute very much (basically a WR4 or WR5), but that scenario isn't too likely in my opinion, unless some injuries occurred.

That ship sailed when he shot himself out of town. Look at BB's track record...did Milloy come back? Law? McG? Vrabel? This team has to grow as the collective organism it was meant to be...that means growing pains with the rooks.

Report: Zach Sudfeld has hamstring injury | ProFootballTalk

According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, Sudfeld suffered a hamstring injury Sunday at Buffalo.

A rookie from Nevada, Sudfeld was targeted just once in 20 snaps in the season opener. What’s more, Hoomanawanui had just two passes thrown his way in 78 snaps, hauling in one reception for five yards.

It would seem unlikely the Patriots would go into Thursday’s game against the Jets with just one tight end, and the Pats do not have a tight end on the practice squad. The question now is how New England will proceed at the position for Week Two.

I'd love for us to give nicks a nice fat contract. Dude is a beast

Panicking and trading "assets" currently is counterproductive, fortunately we have three "easy" games to get our rookies in sync and injured players healthy...

Trades in the NFL do not happen all that often, to bring in shiny beads and expect them to shine is this system does not happen..

Many of us suspected an initial rocky road when this season started, it will get better.

Tavon Austin- 6 receptions 41 yards

Cordarrelle Patterson- 1 reception 10 yards

Justin Hunter- 0 reception 0 yards

Robert Woods- 1 reception 18 yards

Terrance Williams-2 receptions 32 yards

Marquise Goodwin- 1 reception 0 yards

Markus Wheaton- 0 receptions 0 yards

All these rookies are doomed. We should hurry before they scoop up lloyd and branch!

I don’t think anyone said the Patriots wide receivers are doomed, and I nor do I think that the suggestion has been made to cut any of them, the point of my OP was to discuss adding to the current receiving core, which is something I see no downside in doing, if anything it will help the rookies by taking some of the pressure off.

For the record though, your numbers here are flawed, the primary concern was that Thompkins caught just 4 balls and was targeted 14 times, and Boyce caught 0 balls and was targeted 2 times, the players you listed all caught a minimum of 50% of their targets.

Austin – 6/7
Patterson – 1/1
Hunter – 0/0
Woods – 1/2
Williams – 2/4
Goodwin – 1/1
Wheaton – 0/0

TE is the problematic position. The Patriots had 4 solid veteran TEs, 2 of whom were outstanding. But at the moment 3 of the 4 are injured (2 of those are released) and 1 has had an involuntary career change.
